There are two truths: the conventional truth and the ultimate truth. The first refers to the objects of consciousness arising from the six unimpaired faculties, such as forms that, although not seeing the true nature, prevent children from being deceived. The second refers to illusions and reflections, which are objects of consciousness arising from impaired faculties, and are established as true in conventional terms. The Entering the Middle Way states: 'Because ignorance obscures its own nature, it is called conventional (truth). Whatever is seen as true is a fabrication. The Buddha spoke of conventional truth, and this fabricated thing is conventional.' Thus it is said. Of these two, in order, there are true conventional truth and false conventional truth. These two truths are also different objects of sound and mind in conventional terms, so they are different, but in ultimate terms, they cannot be said to be the same or other. The Samdhinirmocana Sutra states: 'The realm of consciousness and the nature of ultimate reality are of a nature that is free from one and different. Whoever conceives of them as one or different has entered into inappropriate mental activity.' Thus it is said. It is unreasonable to think that there is no difference between the two truths even in conventional terms, because it is not possible to distinguish between the two, and the names of the two truths would also become unreasonable. Now, if we distinguish the differences between internal and external philosophical systems, we can divide them into two types. The first is to distinguish externalists. If summarized, they can be classified into two types: those who assert permanence and those who assert annihilation. If divided in detail, there are countless types, and if divided slightly, there are five types of logicians: the Samkhya school, the Veda school, the Carvaka school, the Vaisheshika school, and the Ajivika school. The first four are those who assert permanence, and the last one is those who assert annihilation. The internal differences of these schools are infinite. The difference between those who assert permanence and those who assert annihilation is that, although all agree that there is a self, those who assert permanence believe that the permanent self experiences the results of karma through multiple rebirths, so they are those who assert permanence. Those who assert annihilation believe that the self arises suddenly from the elements, and that the self is permanent as long as it lives, but after death, the continuum is cut off and does not take rebirth, so they are those who assert annihilation. What distinguishes internal and external paths? There are three: internal and external paths distinguished by both view and conduct, and internal and external paths distinguished only by view.

Internal. The internal and external are distinguished by methods. First, there are two types: internal and external individuals, and internal and external tenets. The difference between internal and external individuals is: an individual who takes refuge in the Three Jewels is called an internal practitioner, while an individual who takes refuge in gods such as Vishnu and Brahma is an external practitioner. Therefore, the difference between internal and external individuals is distinguished by taking refuge, etc., and not by views, because there are many internal and external individuals who do not understand views. The difference between internal and external tenets is: mainly distinguished by views, any scripture that explains having either the extreme of permanence or the extreme of annihilation, and does not regard it as a fault, is an external tenet, because their view deviates from the Middle Way that abandons permanence and annihilation. Any scripture that abandons both the extreme of permanence and the extreme of annihilation, and intends to explain the Middle Way, is an internal tenet. Therefore, all four tenet proponents claim that their own tenet is Madhyamaka, because the Buddha taught the Middle Way that abandons permanence and annihilation, and they want to follow it. Among them, each of the four tenet proponents has a different way of abandoning permanence and annihilation: The Vaibhashikas believe that conditioned phenomena are destroyed in an instant, thus abandoning the extreme of permanence, and they continue without interruption, thus abandoning the extreme of annihilation. The Sautrantikas believe that the self-nature of phenomena ceases, thus being liberated from the extreme of permanence, and they produce results that are consistent with themselves, thus being called liberated from the extreme of annihilation. The Cittamatrins believe that the completely imputed nature is non-existent, thus abandoning the extreme of permanence, and the dependent nature is truly established, thus abandoning the extreme of annihilation. They say so. The Madhyamikas believe that they do not deny the appearance of conventional reality as it appears, thus being liberated from the extreme of annihilation, and the ultimate truth of suchness is free from all extremes of elaboration, thus being liberated from the extreme of permanence, which is the basis Madhyamaka. With wisdom, they do not grasp the characteristics of any dharma, thus being liberated from the extreme of permanence, and with compassion, they accumulate vast collections for the benefit of others, thus being liberated from the extreme of annihilation, which is the path Madhyamaka. Having attained the Dharmakaya in which all characteristics of elaboration are completely pacified, thus being liberated from the extreme of permanence, with the Rupakaya, they tame
