It is said that this is what is called "Appearance-Truth Only." Here, "False Appearance" is further divided into two types: one that considers the object of apprehension to appear in consciousness, which is with defilements; and another that considers the object of apprehension not to appear, which is without defilements. The difference between True and False Appearances is that: True Appearance is the apprehended object that appears in consciousness, although it appears like an external object due to the power of habitual tendencies, in reality, it is the manifestation of consciousness itself and not established as an external object; while False Appearance, other than appearing as an external object to sentient beings, in reality, is neither established as an external object nor as an internal consciousness, but is considered to be a non-affirming negation. Both of them agree that external objects are not real and internal consciousness is real, so there is no difference in this point. Third, the difference between the Sutra School and the Mind-Only School is that: in terms of the "basis," the Sutra School believes that the apprehended object is established as an external reality, therefore, the apprehending mind and mental factors are all non-erroneous; while the Mind-Only School does not believe that the apprehended object is real, therefore, the apprehending mind and mental factors, whether realized or unrealized, are all erroneous. Both of them agree that mind and mental factors are substantially existent, which is the same. In terms of the "path," the Sutra School believes that the antidote is limited to the realization of selflessness, and the objects to be abandoned are limited to afflictive obscurations and meditative absorption obscurations, which do not apply to all three types of practitioners. The Mind-Only School believes that the antidote for the Hearer lineage is limited to this; for the Solitary Realizer lineage, in addition to this, it is also necessary to realize the selflessness of phenomena, which is the selflessness of the apprehended object, and to abandon the attachment to the apprehended object in the cognitive obscurations; for the Great Vehicle lineage, it is necessary to realize both the selflessness of persons and the selflessness of phenomena, and to abandon both afflictive obscurations and cognitive obscurations. In terms of the "result," the Sutra School believes that the Nirvana of the three vehicles, as mentioned earlier, are all non-affirming negations; while the Mind-Only School believes that all Nirvanas are Suchness free from their respective obscurations. In particular, the Sutra School does not recognize the Emanation Body other than the Form Body and the Dharma Body, while the Mind-Only School recognizes the Three Bodies, etc., the differences are infinite. The third is the Middle Way School, which is divided into three categories. The first category is further divided into the Consequentialist and the Autonomist. Among them, all the views of the Consequentialist are consistent, and there is no difference. The Autonomist is divided into the Middle Way School that follows the Sutras and the Middle Way School that follows the Yoga.

There are two types of Madhyamaka. The reason for this distinction is that Lekdenjé (Legs ldan 'byed) states that in Nagarjuna's treatises, those who acknowledge external objects as mere nominal designations from the perspective of others are the coarse outer Madhyamikas, and those who only acknowledge knowledge in name and deny the existence of external objects are the subtle inner Madhyamikas. Secondly, the difference between Svatantrika and Prasangika is that both ultimately lead to the ultimate truth, and there is no difference in that regard. The distinction between Svatantrika and Prasangika is made based on whether or not reasoning is used to analyze the conventional truth. The reason for establishing Svatantrika and Prasangika is that, nominally, they make their own assertions and commitments regarding dharmas or ayatanas, and they believe that the reasoning that proves it is established by their own pramana. This is Svatantrika. In order to refute other wrong conceptions such as unborn emptiness, they only acknowledge the views of others. Those other wrong conceptions are refuted by the consequences of internal contradictions in the opponent's commitments, and by reasoning that is self-evident to the world. They do not express any reasoning that is established in their own Madhyamaka system. Because their own system has no commitments, they are Prasangikas. Thirdly, the difference between Madhyamaka and Cittamatra is that, at the stage of the basis, Cittamatrins believe that mind and mental factors are true, while Madhyamikas believe that they are not true. Cittamatrins believe that all beings have three types of lineages and an undetermined lineage, making four in total, but Madhyamikas believe that although this is the case temporarily, ultimately they all have the Buddha lineage. At the stage of the path, Cittamatrins believe as previously stated, and some Madhyamaka Svatantrikas believe that the antidotes and affinities of the three lineages are the same as Cittamatra. However, Prasangikas believe that it is impossible to attain liberation by merely meditating on the freedom from elaboration and the selflessness of phenomena, so all three lineages must meditate on the selflessness of phenomena. The difference between the sutra and tantra of the result is that they believe it is established through means such as generating bodhicitta, dedication, and aspiration prayers. At the stage of the result, Cittamatrins believe that Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas have nirvana. Even Arhats, at the stage of the remainder of aggregates, generate bodhicitta in the Mahayana and enter the Mahayana, but after attaining nirvana without remainder of aggregates, they can never generate bodhicitta in the Mahayana again. Therefore, Madhyamaka
