He was a disciple of Pa, and he attained common siddhi. After his passing, a beautiful queen was possessed by a vicious dragon demon. Whoever was chosen as king was first for a year, then a month, then each day, they were eaten in turn, and all the men of the city were chosen in turn, and everyone was full of suffering. At that time, a royal yogi who had not attained radiance came there and stayed with a cowherd. They cried and said that tonight it was the king's turn, and tomorrow there was no escape. He compassionately said, I will take his place. He was chosen as king and sat on the precious throne. In the evening he turned into a poisonous snake, at midnight into a tiger, and at dawn into a lion, harming the low, medium, and high people. He subdued them with the pride of the gods. A hideous and terrifying leper appeared, becoming like the body of a disease-free god, and said: You are equally kind to all, and I offer my body to you forever. He begged, please rule the kingdom with compassion. The next day, the people of the city, carrying stretchers and so on, came to the cemetery with the king's remains. When they came to invite him, they saw that the king was unharmed. He said: I have subdued that vicious dragon demon, now it doesn't matter who becomes king, choose whoever you want. Having said that, he rose from the throne. Everyone asked him to be the permanent king. He compassionately agreed and ruled the kingdom according to Dharma. Because he took the place of the cowherd, he was called the cowherd and Gopala. Some (page 49b) say that because he had intercourse with the wooden idol of the cowgirl, the cowherd was born. Because he was given a jewel, he ruled the earth, and it is said that he built the Nalanda Temple. In the past, that was the hometown of the venerable Shariputra, and it was known as the city of Nalanda. Because there were reeds there, it was called Nalanda. Some say that it was the temple of the lord of men, and it was called Narendara. Others say that because it was a land covered with precious reeds, it was called Nalanda. That was the place where the Six Ornaments and Two Supremes appeared, and it was the great source of the Buddha's teachings. The great King Gopala ruled the area around eastern Bengal. Each of the five hundred queens was a bhikshuni.

There is a place of offering for five hundred monks. Queen Tachung did not meet the king, and a Bhikshuni held the power. Without applying the medicine to the king's face, fearing it was from another lineage, it was thrown into the sea. The dragon king of that sea gained power, transformed into the king, and came to the queen. Upon hearing this, the king had the dragon captured. The dragon said, "I have no power; it is the power of that medicine. This son of the queen is offered to you, the king. If you take out that medicine, I will not come again." Realizing that the son was blessed, the king ruled him and named him Dharmapala. After the king passed away, he bestowed the kingdom and power upon him. The great landowner, Paldan Chokyong, in order to build a temple, asked the fortune-teller. A container taken from Kathula Gana, made of Brahmin cloth and wood, with ghee obtained from a merchant and lit, wherever the stupa should be offered, wherever the emanation of Chokyong threw the container, build it there, he saw such instructions in a dream. He offered to the Three Jewels and gave extensively. When offering the ghee lamp, the container was carried away by a crow and thrown into a great sea. When the king was in sorrow and suffering, a five-headed dragon king came and said, "I am your father; drain the sea and let you build. It will take seven days. Offer to the Three Jewels and give extensively." After three sevens had passed, the sea dried up, and the temple was built. Because it was the site of the sea, it is called the "Temple that Hides the Sea." In order to pacify the cold disease that afflicted the monks residing there, a merchant transported medicine of three heats in a wooden cart and poured it into the well, hence it is called "Tri-kastu-ka" or the "Temple of Three Heats Medicine." The great commentary on the Eight Thousand Verses of the Prajnaparamita by Simhabhadra was also made by the patron Paldan Chokyong, and it is said to have been composed at the place of Tri-kastu-ka. Some say this is Odantapuri, but Odantapuri was built by heretics who turned corpses into gold. At that time, in the eastern Varendra region, there were many heretical idols, and they sacrificed many living beings daily for offerings. There was a Tara yogi who, out of compassion,
