The essential instructions of the Kadampa tradition, compiled without additions or omissions. At the end, it explains the colophon of which translator translated it. The first part has two: the meaning of the name and the homage of the translation. The second part, the actual Kadampa (page 722), has three. First, the arrangement of the four continents. In the middle, the six yogas are explained in detail. Finally, the meaning of the pith instructions is summarized with a seal. The second part, the limbs, has two: a brief explanation from the perspective of explaining the benefits of the path, and a detailed explanation of the actual practice. The detailed explanation has six: the skillful means of bliss-heat self-igniting, the illusory body of attachment and aversion self-liberating, the dream state of confusion self-purifying, the clear light of ignorance self-awakening, the transference of consciousness without practice becoming enlightened, the bardo victorious enjoyment body. The first, the skillful means, has two: a brief explanation and a detailed explanation. The first part has two: a brief explanation of the essential instructions for one's own body with skillful means, and a brief explanation of the essential instructions for the great bliss of another's body (page 723). The detailed explanation has three: one's own body and another's body, the number of objects of the skillful means, and the specific detailed explanation of the guru's essential instructions. The first part has two: the practice of the preliminary practice with three qualities, and the practice of the main practice with six qualities. The other body has six: being skilled in descending, being skilled in grasping, being skilled in reversing, being skilled in scattering, being skilled in mixing, being skilled in sealing. The third is: In the Vajra verses it says: preliminary, main, and subsequent. The first has three: purifying emptiness, emptiness dispels disease and demons, the three signs are the distinctions of emptiness. The main part (page 724) has five: the essential points of the body, the emptiness of fire, consuming tummo as food, wearing it as clothing, spreading it as a cushion, requesting the empowerment of existence. The third, the subsequent, has two: obstacles self-liberating and riding like the wind. Thus it is said. The second, the illusory body, has three: a brief explanation, a detailed explanation, and a summary of the meaning. The detailed explanation has four: for the superior faculties, relying on a noble guru as a friend; for the intermediate faculties, being guided without interruption by other words; for the inferior faculties, generating samadhi in one seat; the specific explanation of the guru's essential instructions on the stages of objects. In the Vajra Clear Words it says: The superior faculties have two: the path of supplication to the guru, the path of taking whatever appears as unreal. The intermediate faculties have two: one's own body (page 725) appearing empty deity, whatever appears is illusion.

The path to carry on. The lowest faculties have four: causing the six realms to appear as illusions, causing diseases and obstacles to appear as illusions, manifesting the six aggregates of qualities, and self-arising of illusion without attachment. Thus it is said. Third, dreams have three aspects: briefly showing the order of practicing the path, extensively explaining how qualities arise through unobstructed practice, and summarizing the meaning through teaching the methods of dispelling obstacles. The Vajra Word Clarification says: Dreams have six aspects: grasping, practicing, increasing, transforming, changing, and the appearance of objects. Grasping has two aspects: self-grasping and infallibility. The first is the key to the four empowerments of bindu. The second (726), infallibility, has nine aspects: three key points of time, three key points of body, and three key points of object of focus. Second, practice also has four aspects: mind training the body, body training the mind, training with the selfless mother, and training with desire. Third, increasing has two aspects: increasing through encounter and increasing through whatever is tamed. The first has two aspects: transforming the four elements into subtle and coarse, transforming sentient beings into subtle and coarse, transforming the bodies of deities into various forms, and transforming appearance and emptiness into detachment. Sixth, the appearance of objects has four aspects: the highest faculty is clear knowing without focus, the intermediate faculty is clear seeing with whatever is thought, the lowest faculty is mind-body flying in space, and the inferior is the appearance of the object of focus. That has three aspects: (727) the selfless mother causes the appearance of objects, A causes the self-illumination of the appearance of objects, and bindu causes the appearance of objects. Thus it is said. Fourth, clear light has three aspects: practicing the preliminary practices with four qualities, practicing the main practice with twenty qualities, and practicing the subsequent practice with five qualities. That is also according to the Vajra Word Clarification: Clear light has three aspects: preliminary, main, and subsequent. The first has four aspects: the root is impermanence and renunciation, the branches are conduct and samaya substances, the leaves are skillful means and self-radiance, and the flower is supplication and manifestation. Second, the main practice has four aspects: grasping clear light, mixing the path, and ultimate clear light. The first has nine aspects: three key points of time (728), three key points of body, and three key points of object of focus. The second has two aspects: carrying the three bodies on the path during the day and carrying the three bodies on the path at night. The third has four aspects: mixing clarity and emptiness into great bliss, mixing without difference between day and night, and mixing view, meditation, and action.
