扬！他人夺取，无有使用权，水中之名亦不闻，如幻影一般，饥渴难耐，误以为水而奔赴。 无有血肉之枯骨，日影漆黑，误以为是食物而满足。 名为“业障缠身之饿鬼”，为寻饮食，口中燃火。 食物入口，化为沸腾之脓血，焚烧房屋，火星自躯体迸发。 名为“共业障之饿鬼”，饮食丰盛环绕，自身却无权享用，饱受饥渴之苦，谨防他人夺取而严加守护。 名为“生殖器生疮之饿鬼”，沉溺于享乐之中，双足深陷，见有持戈之人守护。 名为“火焰轮之饿鬼”，食饮之物皆化为火焰，骨骼爆裂，燃为烈火。 此乃众生饿鬼之苦。 旁生亦有简而言之四种苦：从轭下至日月无光。 于洲间栖息之旁生，较之夏日之尘埃尤甚。 不见自身形，唯以血肉为食，堕入悬崖深渊，饱受痛苦。 其二，栖息于外海之旁生，如断流之蜜蜂般生存，大小皆相食，彼此残杀，痛苦不堪。 其三，无依无靠之弱小旁生，由四生而出，如野兽、猛禽、蚂蚁、腐虫、蠕虫，多足无足之虫、飞禽、爪兽，龙族等大小旁生，遍布大地，不可胜数，彼此相食，痛苦不堪。 猎人设下罗网陷阱，导致生育能力丧失，有些因此而死。 其四，散居旁生之苦，此等依附于人之旁生，役使驮运、耕耘、挤奶，剪毛剥皮、抽血污秽，酸奶不掺杂，脊背磨破负重物，毛发脱落，犄角磨损，即便被剥皮亦忍受疼痛，身体破裂亦坚韧不拔，驱赶折磨杀戮之苦，无量无边。

Called "the hungry ghost with individual karmic obscurations," fire burns in the mouth while searching for food and drink. When food enters the mouth, it turns into boiling pus and blood, burning the house, and sparks fly from the body. Called "the hungry ghost with common karmic obscurations," surrounded by abundant food and drink, but having no right to use it, suffering from hunger and thirst, and carefully guarding against others taking it away. Called "the hungry ghost with sores on the genitals," sinking into the middle of enjoyment, with feet submerged, and seeing someone holding a weapon guarding it. Called "the hungry ghost with a wheel of fire," everything eaten and drunk turns into flames, and the bones crack and burn into a raging fire. These are the sufferings of sentient beings in the hungry ghost realm. Animals also have four kinds of suffering in brief: from the yoke to the absence of sun and moon. The animals that live in the intermediate continents are more numerous than the dust of summer. Not seeing their own form, they only eat flesh and blood, falling into cliffs and abysses, suffering greatly. Secondly, the animals that live in the outer ocean, living like bees with interrupted flow, eating everything large and small, and killing each other, suffering unbearably. Thirdly, the helpless and small animals, born from the four types of birth, such as wild animals, birds of prey, ants, carrion worms, worms, many-legged and legless insects, birds, clawed animals, and various large and small animals of the Naga race, are countless on the earth, and they eat each other, suffering unbearably. Hunters set up nets and traps, causing the loss of fertility, and some die as a result. Fourthly, the suffering of scattered animals, these animals that depend on humans are used for carrying loads, plowing, milking, shearing wool, skinning, drawing blood, and are subjected to filth. The yogurt is not mixed with meat, their backs are worn out from carrying heavy loads, their hair falls out, and their horns are worn down. Even when being skinned, they endure the pain, and even when their bodies are torn apart, they remain steadfast. The suffering of being driven away, tormented, and killed is immeasurable.
