9) He fled to Walati Se. After that, it was I, Tarpa Gyal. After that, my younger brother Tsoje. After that, my sister named Ermo. It is said that it was very difficult to raise me when I was young. My uncle was the nephew of Geshe Khenpo Warsar. When I was about four years old, I said not to take off the sheep shearing clothes, and I had a little faith and compassion. When I was about six or seven years old, my father taught me letters for a few days, and I learned to read and write. Later I learned it myself. I looked at the old books and found that they were the same as what I wrote. I knew one Tibetan letter, and later I learned by getting close to other scholars. When working, I took an old book-like (thing) and practiced the strokes of the letters. I recited small sutras such as the Ushnishavijaya Sutra. Because of a slight liver disease, I had an uncle who was a teacher, so I practiced a little Tummo meditation, and did a recitation of the seven-syllable mantra of Chakrasamvara, and saw some small signs. There, after my mother died, my father took me to Kongpo (now the Linzhi area), and at Thoteng Monastery in Wosho, I received the empowerment of Kurukulla and Chakrasamvara from Lama Gyedor. After that, we returned, and the three of us, father and son, wandered in Yerpa and Gampo. I recited one hundred recitations of Avalokiteshvara from a Yerpa mantra practitioner. I requested the empowerment of the four-faced Hayagriva from an old man named Lama Nub. The two of them, father and son, did not stay in Yerpa, but went to upper Gampo, and later regretted it. My father seemed to be doing stonemasonry work. From the age of nine, I heard the Vinaya, the Bodhicharyavatara, the Two Examinations Tantra, etc. from Khenpo Tsangpo at On Monastery, who was a knowledgeable person. I became a fully ordained layperson and kept the vows. From a Gelong teacher, I heard about the asceticism of pebbles, and the transmission of the nectar of Avalokiteshvara that came out of Pumo Che. I did the asceticism of pebbles and got a severe louse disease (461), and the lice crawled out of my body. I only had one tattered piece of clothing that could barely cover my body. Although it was a bit dangerous, it was good because I only had faith in the Dharma. There, my father died, and good omens appeared. I, an eleven-year-old, had to support a six-year-old brother. At that time, I heard that Je Orgyenpa had arrived in Ena, so I went alone to see him,

I arrived at the end of a branch valley of Lato (la stod). I only received some Dharma connections. After staying one night, I took my younger brother and sent him to my uncle's house. I was taken by a teacher named Tsulgyal (tshul rgyal) to the Phagmo Dru (phag mo gru) monastery. At that time, I was about twelve years old. I took the vows of a novice monk from Khenpo Yerpa (yer pa) and teacher Ngariwa (mnga' ris pa). A person named Lama Lhakhangpa (lha khang pa) opened the Dharma gate of the blessings of the four symbols of Phagmo Khamsum Ma (phag mo khams gsum ma), and from Rinpoche Drak Yewa (grags ye ba), the incarnation of Pal Phagmo Drupa (phag mo grub pa), I received the Six Dharmas of Naropa of the New Translation School, and (462) the birth Dharma of Dharma Lord Jigten Sumgon ('bri gung pa), including the profound Dharma, for five years. During that time, from a person named Lama Tser Tongpa ('tsher stongs pa), I only studied enough to know the Two Examinations of the Ngok tradition. It was not what the Lama said. My realization is vast in the generation and completion stages. If the two are compared, the realization of a single moment is the generation stage. I thought that its self-nature, which is imperceptible, is the completion stage, but realization did not arise. Before that, when I was in my hometown, when I was young, there was an Ani teacher who had a palm-leaf manuscript. After my father brought it back, I kept thinking about a book called "Samsara and Nirvana are Inseparable," and I was almost about to have a realization. But then I was troubled by doubt. The children competed to see which was better, meditating or playing. When I went to the end of the valley to collect firewood, if I stayed in a cave or bird's nest, I would have a habit of seclusion. In addition, I also received some small parts of Hevajra (kyai rdor) from the Lama, as well as the root downfalls, and the Five (463) Ten Lamas, etc. Sometimes, at the place of a person named Pon Sangshe (dpon sangs she), who was skilled in deities and had great faith, I learned about deities and recited many six-syllable mantras. I dreamed that in a beautiful house not in the sky but on the ground, I met a four-armed Avalokiteshvara. During that time, as an attendant to a teacher named Jaton (bya ston), as a monk, I received the short-handled Vajrakila tradition of Jomo from Lama Khyunag Shakya Dar (khyung nag shAkya dar), as well as Yamantaka, Black Enemy Lord of Life, all the empowerments, oral instructions, and even the face introduction of the Karma Yamantaka. I also received a small amount of the Chakdor Rechunga (phyag rdor ras chung pa) tradition at Phagmo Dru (phag mo gru). At that time, I also met Se Sopa Khenpo Rinpoche (se gso pa mkhan po rin po che). From teacher Jetsab (rje tshab) I received Mahakala (mgon po).
