Possessing all five certainties, regarding its color, the Vinaya, Minor Matters, etc., say that if destined to be born in hell, it is like a burnt tree stump; Similarly, like the pus and blood water of a hungry ghost; like the smoke of an animal; like the gold of a human; like the white cloth of a god; appearing in the perception of beings of the same kind. And the Compendium of Categories says: 'For the intermediate state being who commits non-virtuous deeds, it appears as a black shadow, or like the darkness of night.' Those who do virtuous deeds appear like white cloth, or like a night with moonlight. Therefore, those who have previously committed powerful non-virtuous deeds will see their own bodies and the external world as black shadows, or like a dark night without the light of the sun, moon, and stars. Those who do virtuous deeds will see themselves and the external world as white cloth, or like a night pervaded by moonlight. As for their food, the Abhidharma-kosa says: 'That is scent-eater.' Therefore, they do not enjoy other food, but only enjoy the good or bad of scents according to the size of their power. Lamas say that if other food is offered with pure rituals, they can also enjoy it. The form thus formed, the Abhidharma-kosa says: 'It will not be reborn elsewhere,' which refers to being away from the conditions of transformation. And the Compendium of Categories says: 'If it transforms? Then it will also accumulate karma there.' And in the Advice to the King Sutra, the Blessed One taught: 'Great King, after beings die, according to the ripening of the karma they have created, they are reborn in different destinies. If various virtuous deeds, which are accumulations of merit unrelated to non-virtue, are given for him, he can rise to the heavens and liberation.' Therefore, if the relatives who remain in the world perform powerful virtuous deeds that are not mixed with sins, and rely on the power of pure rituals of virtuous friends, etc., if one is destined to be born in a bad realm, one can transform from that and be born in a heaven; if one is destined to be born in a heaven, one can transform from that and be born in a pure land, enjoy the nectar of the Dharma of the Buddhas of the ten directions, and thus attain the state of omniscience. Therefore, relatives should diligently practice virtue, and you (the intermediate state being) yourself should also be aware that because of the habits of the three times, you may also accumulate non-virtuous deeds at this time, so pay attention to this. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mindfulness and awareness are very important. 1-206 Therefore, recognize the bardo through forms and so on. Abandon the attachment to the forms of the six realms and so on, and generate a strong desire for the qualities of the noble ones. Fifth, in the Abhidharmakośa it says: 'The pure divine eye sees those of the same kind.' And in the Compendium of Mahāyāna it says: 'Sentient beings with equal fortune also see.' Therefore, the bardo itself, along with those of the same kind, and the purity free from the eleven faults such as doubt and non-attention, is seen by the divine eye arising from meditation, through clairvoyance. Sentient beings with equal fortune who have previously accumulated virtuous and non-virtuous deeds together with oneself are seen and accompanied in a dreamlike state. Therefore, recognize the bardo through the way you and others see each other. From now on, whatever you see before your eyes, do not be dominated by attachment and aversion based on that. 1-207 Sixth, in the Abhidharmakośa it says: 'Endowed with the power of karmic miracles.' And in the Compendium of Mahāyāna it says: 'There is no obstruction to going.' And in the Abhidharmakośa commentary it says: 'For example, even the Buddhas do not use obstruction, because it is endowed with the power of karma.' And in the Mindfulness Sutra it also says: 'Like a subtle change, it does not exist, and without obstruction, even if one goes from the cave of Mount Kailash, one's self is not obstructed by Mount Sumeru, so what need is there to mention other mountains?' Therefore, endowed with the power of miracles generated by the karma of the previous life, one is able to travel to any desired place in an instant. Even the Buddhas cannot obstruct that karma, so there is no obstruction to anything like Mount Sumeru. However, in the Abhidharmakośa commentary it says: 'The intermediate state of existence enters relying on the womb, it is not like that.' And in the Compendium of Mahāyāna it says: 'There is obstruction at the place of birth.' Therefore, one does not enter from the mother's womb, and once one enters the womb, one does not turn back, so there is obstruction at the place of taking birth. Similarly, there is obstruction at the other three places of birth. The lamas say that on top of that, there is obstruction at the vajra seat. In any case, recognize the bardo by examining the way your body travels, and when the thought arises of wanting to go to any of the six realms, generate a mind of aversion and strongly desire to go to a pure land. 1-208 Seventh, in the Great Nirvana Sutra it says: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
