Although entering, here it means obscuration. Goodness refers to that which is not judged by the wise and is worthy of praise. Words are famous in grammar, having case endings; another famous one is the expression that shows the difference in meaning, both are included. 'གི་' (Tibetan, no Sanskrit equivalent, no Romanized Sanskrit, of) is an explanatory particle, meaning to connect with what follows. In reality, it should be said 'well-organized words'. Flowers have the nature of beauty, therefore, well-organized words are shaped into the form of flowers. 'ལས་' (Tibetan, no Sanskrit equivalent, no Romanized Sanskrit, from) indicates the source, 'འོངས་པ་' (Tibetan, no Sanskrit equivalent, no Romanized Sanskrit, coming) is the meaning of arising, just like 'obtaining jewels from the ocean'. 'Words produce meaning' etc. are connected with the following. 'ཡིད་' (Tibetan, Sanskrit: manas, Romanized Sanskrit: manas, mind) refers to consciousness. The utterance of 'ཞེས་' (Tibetan, no Sanskrit equivalent, no Romanized Sanskrit, saying) is the wisdom of those wise ones who understand the meaning. Seizing is not through means such as force, lurking, etc., but like a magnet attracting iron, by seeing the merit itself, making it one's own. That is the nature of the Dharma (thing) that possesses merit. The meaning arising from that rich expression of words is both profound and vast. 'གྱི་' (Tibetan, no Sanskrit equivalent, no Romanized Sanskrit, of) connects the before and after. The fruit is the state of the flower growing to the extreme, its power fully matured. 'ང་' (Tibetan, no Sanskrit equivalent, no Romanized Sanskrit, I) is the statement of the nature of the fruit, 'ཉིད་' (Tibetan, no Sanskrit equivalent, no Romanized Sanskrit, self) is the condition of things, with 'ཁོ་ན་' (Tibetan, no Sanskrit equivalent, no Romanized Sanskrit, only), 'ངེས་པ་' (Tibetan, no Sanskrit equivalent, no Romanized Sanskrit, certain), 'འབའ་ཞིག་' (Tibetan, no Sanskrit equivalent, no Romanized Sanskrit, unique) etc. having the same meaning, it is a word indicating that it is not other. Confusion refers to the gathering of many similar qualities, so that it cannot be determined. Absence is separation from this, because nothing that is confused with this meaning is observed. One's own face is one's own nature, and showing is the quality that makes it clear. Hundred tastes refers to in the Vinaya, 'food with a hundred tastes', in the extensive commentary it says: 'Any food that has a hundred kinds of tastes is food with a hundred tastes'. Although it only shows examples of many tastes, it does not say how to count them one by one. The way of counting here is: those who are proficient in medicine think like this: from the perspective of one's own nature, the fundamental tastes are six: sweet, sour, salty, spicy, bitter, and astringent. Sweetness is divided into six kinds, and so on, so there are thirty-six kinds. These tastes are clearly experienced in the realm of the tongue, so there are thirty-six kinds. The power that matures in the stomach is thirty-six kinds, totaling one hundred and eight kinds. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thus it is said. 'Ground' means having, and 'what' is a common term, as mentioned before. It is related to the word 'this', so it is distinguished from the common, meaning 'these hundred tastes'. These are the qualities that adorn. What do they adorn? They adorn the tree. The tree is an abbreviation of the term 'Manifest Realization Jewel Tree', 1-195 Clarifying the root of the meaning to be explained is manifest realization. In order to excellently demonstrate it through metaphor, it is named 'Jewel Tree'. As stated in the sutras, it is made of precious jewels, and its shape is like a large tree with roots, stems, branches, leaves, flowers, fruits, etc., possessing all the characteristics of trees, and it fulfills all needs as desired, so it is called that. It refers to this. How does it adorn? Adorning is making it clear. For example, decorating with gold and jewels makes it very clear. Similarly, this treatise makes the words and meanings of the Manifest Realization Jewel Tree very clear. Among adorning and making it adorn, what is actually mentioned here is making it adorn. Thus, the preliminary words and meanings of the great treatise have been completely explained. The extensive explanations of the main body and conclusion of this treatise should be understood elsewhere. Ah! When explaining this meaning, some turn their backs, some follow the sounds of parrots, some cherish the words of bad friends, and most are like drinking foot-washing water, achieving nothing. 1-196 I follow the tradition of the wise, strive to learn the knowledge that should be learned, and stay away from unjust speech. Therefore, there is no fault in this. What is said here can well understand the profound and vast meanings of the sutras, tantras, and treatises. No matter which treatise's preliminary is studied, one can obtain profound and vast wisdom, and ultimately go to the path of immortality. Do not be shallow and complacent like a small puddle, but be happy in the vast ocean of knowledge. The wise swan mentor with excellent wisdom, please come here and show your talent for thoroughly understanding the profound. The nectar stream spoken by the most supreme omniscient one, please learned scholars pour into the joyful jewel container. As said by the auspicious and virtuous one, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
