As stated in the Sutra of the Earth Store, during any one of the morning or evening sessions, one should perform communal Dharma protector gatherings, fulfillments, expulsions, offerings of leftover food, continuous praises, Cham dances, and other activities. In other sessions, one should engage in the stages of absorption, dedication, aspiration, and auspicious wishes. At the end of the evening session, one should practice the yoga of sleep, and upon rising in the morning session, one should bless speech. In other sessions as well, one should recite Āli Kāli and other mantras as usual. After the morning session, one should recite preliminary practices and daily practices, and engage in the main practice, similar to others. During the intervals between sessions, one should perform water offerings and incense offerings, and other activities as possible. Thus, dividing the day into four sessions, depending on one's leisure or busyness, if one cannot perform many sessions, one must perform at least one session per day. Even if one cannot completely observe silence, one should observe silence during the intervals between other sessions, just as one does during lunchtime. This is the tradition of the previous lamas. It is very important not to interrupt the recitation with idle talk, and one should never utter sounds like "pa pa" or "du du" while speaking, as these are obstacles to virtuous conduct and must be avoided. During the practice sessions, one should avoid eating food and other activities, except for drinking small amounts of tea to quench thirst. From the beginning of the retreat until the end, one must observe the four actions of retreat: non-distraction, non-leakage, non-movement, and non-alteration. The reason for non-distraction is that one should not engage in teaching or listening to Dharma, protecting others, giving blessings, making offerings, or creating auspicious connections. One should not disperse blessed sacred substances outwards. The reason for non-leakage is that if one sees each other, one will be distracted, so one must avoid the three situations of loopholes, damage, and distraction. One should not travel, give or receive items, and especially one's own food, clothing, utensils, and implements should not be given to others to use, nor should one use items that others have used. One should not tell others about one's experiences, realizations, signs, or omens. The reason for non-movement is that one should not wash one's body, clothes, hair, or face, cut one's hair or nails, move one's bed, shake one's cushions, or sweep the practice room. The reason for non-alteration is that one should not be distracted by superficial, temporary altruistic activities, nor should one become weary of seeking peace and happiness for oneself. One should practice while the cushion is still warm, and during the practice sessions, one should not walk, sit, lie down, or shake one's body, etc. One should not bask in the sun, and one should not lie down to rest due to physical discomfort. One should always maintain the posture of the body.
