Having faith in this meaning, accumulating the two accumulations and purifying the two obscurations, the ultimate result is the manifestation of the Dharmakaya and the attainment of Buddhahood, as said by our teacher Shakyamuni Buddha. The translator asked the master: Then, what is the reason why the three bodies of Buddha realize this profound meaning in different ways? The master replied: The reason why the three bodies of Buddha realize this profound meaning in different ways is: the Dharmakaya attains enlightenment by realizing the unconditioned nature all at once; the Sambhogakaya attains enlightenment in a sudden way, relying on symbols and signs of the meaning of non-duality of delusion and liberation; the Nirmanakaya attains enlightenment gradually at the end of accumulating merits and purifying obscurations, there are these three ways. These three ways, according to the provisional meaning, are the three ways of liberation: those who are not contaminated by obscurations at all, those who are slightly contaminated, and those who are severely obscured; according to the definitive meaning, it is the uninterrupted radiance of the self-awareness nature. The translator asked the master: Then, is the self-awareness inseparable from the Buddhas of the three times? The master replied: The nature of self-awareness is the Dharmakaya, the essence is the Sambhogakaya, and the uninterrupted compassion is the Nirmanakaya. The translator asked the master: Then, when one's own mind abides in the three bodies of the Buddha, what is the need for the practice of deities and the generation stage? The master replied: In reality, there is no need for the practice of generation stage and deity, because the deity is oneself and oneself is the deity. However, there are very few people who can realize this view, so in order to realize this truth, there is the Father Tantra which mainly emphasizes skillful means, the Mother Tantra which mainly emphasizes wisdom, and the Unsurpassed Tantra which mainly emphasizes non-duality; or the Maha Yoga which mainly emphasizes the generation stage, the Anu Yoga which mainly emphasizes the completion stage, the Ati Yoga which mainly emphasizes union, and the Unsurpassed Ati Yoga which mainly emphasizes freedom from extremes; or the Vinaya, Sutra, Abhidhamma, etc., which separately explain the causes, effects, what to adopt and what to abandon. Translator, these Dharmas are all taught for the sake of realizing and liberating the one's own mind.

There is no other teaching than this. Some teachings are taught to realize the mind by relying on causes; some teachings are taught to realize the mind by relying on conditions; some teachings are taught to realize the mind by relying on methods; some teachings are taught to realize the mind by relying on dependent origination; some teachings are taught to realize the mind by relying on symbols. These teachings arose solely for the purpose of realizing and liberating this so-called self-mind, which is the agent of the three times. In reality, if one vehicle could liberate all beings, there would be no need to teach other vehicles. However, because the karma of beings is not the same, the causes are not the same; because the causes are not the same, the results become diverse, so the various vehicles are taught, which is called taming according to what is appropriate. If the translator can truly see and liberate this self-mind, then not to mention the practice and recitation of deities, even the eighty-four thousand doors of Dharma are not needed, he said. The translator asked the teacher: Then, do all those various holy Dharmas have different speeds in ultimately attaining the fruit of Buddhahood? The teacher said: If you count the number of those holy Dharmas, all the eighty-four thousand that are taught are included in the nine vehicles. The lower three vehicles say that Buddhahood is attained after countless nine kalpas; the middle three vehicles think that they will attain enlightenment after one hundred and twenty and seventeen lives, etc.; the upper three vehicles say that Buddhahood is attained in this life, the intermediate state, and one life, so the difference is great. The translator asked the teacher: Then, why don't all sentient beings practice the upper vehicle? The teacher said: This upper vehicle is called the quick and unsurpassed path, but not all sentient beings meet this Dharma, and even if they meet it, they do not understand it, and even if they understand it, they do not practice it. To become a vessel for this Dharma, it takes a kalpa for a sentient being who has accumulated merit and purified obscurations, and it is rarer than the Udumbara flower. The translator asked the teacher: Then, is it necessary to meditate on just realizing this self-born unsurpassed state of reality? Is it not necessary to meditate? The teacher said: Dharma
