Do. Abandoning verbal expressions and mental discriminations, these three, remaining immovably or in stillness, are called the three solitudes, and also called not depending on the enjoyment of the three doors. By its power, although the transference of wind and mind is not actually stopped, since it is possible to accomplish the abiding in one's own state independently, it is also called possessing the four independences, including not depending on the enjoyment of transference. These three solitudes are preliminaries, so it is best to practice these exclusively for two or three days. If that is not possible, one should practice gathering and so on through the state of not being separated from the three immovables. During the actual time of gathering, first in a dark room, on a small meditation cushion. The posture of the body is the vajra full lotus posture of the legs. Tightening the lower part, pressing the perineum, thereby binding the downward-clearing wind. Straighten the spine and the back of the neck. The channel from the heart to the navel is straight, thereby binding the life wind. If it is not straight like that, bending forward will meet the inner front wind in the center of the heart, causing the consciousness to suddenly scatter. Leaning to the right will meet fire, causing agitation. Leaning to the left will meet water, causing confusion. Leaning backward will meet earth, causing sinking and the experience of rigidity. With the throat pressing the Adam's apple, slightly bend the neck, thereby binding the upward-moving wind. By the power of those previous body postures, the abdomen will naturally become even, thereby binding the equally dwelling wind. Keep the teeth and lips in their natural state. The tip of the tongue touches the upper palate. These body postures of the throat, teeth, tongue, and lips bind the wind of the ears and tongue. Through those postures, and slowly exhaling from the mouth, thereby binding the wind of the nose. With both hands, the thumbs press the base of the ring finger, and then with the other fingers joined together to form two fists, slightly pressing on the base of the thighs. Adjust the tightness and looseness appropriately, and straighten the forearms. Thus, since the wind moving in the body and all the body postures are gathered, the pervasive wind is bound. Alternatively, one can also make the gesture of equipoise with both hands. The posture of the eyes is called the gaze of the wheel-turning king, which is to measure sixteen fingers upward from the eyebrows, look at the sky, and remain unmoving. Do not open the eyes too wide, nor close them, but naturally turn the eyeballs upward. That posture binds the wind moving in the eyes.
