Even if it is not directly refuted. What is similar entry? From the perspective of the object, there is no inequality such as clarity or obscurity, nearness or distance; from the perspective of the observer, if there is no inequality such as particularly pursuing one and generating trust, then the entry becomes similar. Second, the Vaisheshika school says: Knowledge arises merely from having both the self and the mind, without relying on what immediately precedes it. If so, then all knowledge would arise simultaneously, because the cause is unchanging and constant. They say: Because the agent cause—the mind—is only one, the effect, which is the action, will not produce many things together from one. Just as one person can only do one thing at a time. If so, that is not certain. If it were certain, then how could one lamp be seen by many people at the same time? Because we see the phenomenon of the agent cause—one lamp—producing many eye consciousnesses, it is not certain to say that only one action is determined because there is only one agent. If it is determined that one cause can only produce one action at any time, then that one cause will not have the ability to produce many knowledges in succession. Because the certainty that one agent does one action has been admitted. Moreover, this one agent will not have even the slightest difference from before, because it is constant. Therefore, it will not change from the initial state. This reasoning also refutes the Charvaka school's view that one body is the cause of many minds, and the Samkhya school's view that the Purusha of awareness is the cause of the mind, because the harmful reasoning is the same for them. Third, if the Vaisheshika school and others think that from "my merit is fabrication," each consciousness will definitely arise, rather than all consciousnesses arising without certainty. Then, is this "fabrication" permanent or impermanent? If it is the former, then the faults mentioned above still remain. If it is the latter, if this "fabrication" did not exist before but arose later, then from what cause did it arise? If it is said to arise from the previous consciousness, then the later consciousness arises from the fabrication of the consciousness, which is actually what is to be proven.

Second, refuting the response regarding the decline of the ability to be apprehended, there are three parts: brief statement, detailed explanation, and summary. First, although the previous thought is the proximate cause of the subsequent thought, it is unreasonable to say that the subsequent consciousness transfers to the object because it has become not the meaning of what is apprehended. Because for what is apprehended, the very fact that consciousness exists as the meaning of what is apprehended is the cause of the arising of that object-possessor, and there is nothing else that is called what is apprehended. The self-cognizing consciousness directly generates the appearance of its own likeness, and that itself is the definition of what is apprehended. There is no other self-cognizing cause of arising other than what is apprehended. Therefore, these two cannot be distinguished. If anything appears to consciousness as itself, there is nothing that is not apprehended. You believe that the previous and subsequent thoughts can appear, and for indivisible consciousness, the reason why it cannot appear differently from before due to differences such as subtle and coarse cannot be established, then why would this become not apprehended? It is just a mere assertion. If you say that the appearance of what is apprehended is not necessarily determined by the appearance controlled by the object, then there is also an explanation in response to "that is what is apprehended." Second, it is shown that there is no other arising of what is apprehended other than what is apprehended. Eliminating the uncertain debate about this. First, the opponent says: The previous thought to be experienced has two abilities: the ability to become the meaning of what is apprehended by the subsequent experiencing consciousness, and the ability to be the proximate cause of generating the subsequent consciousness. Sometimes the ability to be apprehended declines, but the other ability that is the nature of generating the subsequent consciousness does not decline. If you say so, is that previous thought an object of consciousness or not? If it is not, then the previous ones will not become objects either. If it is an object and has the definition of what is apprehended, then it is just what is apprehended itself, and there is no other ability to cause arising. For example, if forms and so on cannot generate their own consciousness merely because they are what is apprehended, then it is impossible for forms and so on to directly benefit the self-cognizing consciousness with their own nature. But it is not like that, the form itself generates its own consciousness merely because it is the definition of what is apprehended by consciousness. What other factor is there that can definitely generate the arising cause of this ability to generate its own consciousness other than forms and so on? Merely because it is what is apprehended, it cannot generate its own consciousness, but there is another ability
