If from various different things, something different from them does not arise, then it is not the result of those things, because it does not follow the cause, just like a cow and a non-cow. If this is combined into a verse, it is like, "From whose difference, no difference arises, that is not its result." Second, pointing out the other party's fault, that is, in a way that is not similar to oneself: things and others are not similar. First, just like you, who believe that consciousness arises from its own kind, but because consciousness has various objects, the fault of simultaneously producing many consciousnesses also exists in yourself. If you say it is not similar, it is because, although consciousness has various objects, the consciousness that apprehends an object arises from the immediately preceding condition of the previous moment, and it is certain that the subsequent moment also has the ability to grasp each object separately. Therefore, it is not just grasping at the same time, because one consciousness of the immediately preceding condition is the cause of the subsequent consciousness that is not interrupted by others. Therefore, relying on this, it is certain that objects are grasped in sequence. Why is it so dependent? Even if it dwells in many objects, consciousness is particularly inclined and attached to other affairs like ministers, thereby making it unable to grasp other things such as yellow, and therefore does not grasp other things, just as the momentum of the previous moment produces the wisdom of grasping. In that way, mental thoughts arise sequentially, while non-conceptual thoughts arise according to the order in which the three causes gather. Second, the way of dissimilarity and eliminating doubts about it. First, if the other party also understands this way, thinking that even according to his own view, when the body is first formed, consciousness arises simultaneously from the body, and from then on, consciousness must arise from the previous moment of the same kind. Therefore, it can be admitted that consciousness does not arise simultaneously, etc., similar to you, then this is unreasonable for you. If consciousness does not arise from the previous same kind, but arises from the body, then why does the body's ability to produce consciousness disappear after consciousness arises? Because there is no difference from before, the fault of producing many consciousnesses many times still exists. If it does not arise later, then it is unreasonable to produce it earlier. Second, a brief explanation and the establishment of its rationality. First, if like you

Then, the consciousness of similar kinds arises continuously. When this present body decays and changes, since the mind is not dependent on the body, from then on, the mind will exist alone. Because there is no dependence, there is no necessity to exist together. If, in order to obtain the uninterrupted continuation of the cause of the future body, or for this purpose, the continuum of mind has a similar cause that exists uninterruptedly in the body, and if such a mind is not a limb or a co-operative condition for the accomplishment of the body, then there is a mind that exists alone without depending on the body, just like the arising in the formless realm. Whether or not the cause of the future body can obtain the direct entry into the accomplishment of the future body depends on the mind. If the mind has not separated from attachment to form and acts as a co-operative condition, then it will obtain entry, just as a seed is moistened by moisture. What is meant by the cause of the future body? It is the last moment when the five aggregates of this life cease, which is the proximate cause for the production of another future body. If it has the condition of a mind with craving for the body, then at the end of the dying state, the body of the intermediate state will be formed, and then it will be born again in the womb and so on. In this way, just by this teaching, it can be established that the senses and so on are similar to the previous existence. In reality, it should be understood that it is only the awakening of the habits of the mind that appears as the body. These five aggregates, which previously appeared as the body, are taken as the proximate cause by the awakening of the habits. The mind and intellect, accompanied by craving for the body, act as co-operative conditions, and again the body and mind appear uninterruptedly, just like the body in a dream. Again, like a seed without moisture, if one is free from craving for the body and the intellect does not become a co-operative condition for the appearance of the body, then for a while it will not appear as a body, but will be born in the formless realm, just like when one falls into a deep sleep. Even so, the reason for this is that the five aggregates, which have the root of self-grasping, have the possibility of awakening the habits of being accustomed to craving. It remains dormant for a while, and when it manifests as a body, it is like appearing again as the body in a dream from a deep sleep. In this way, due to the habituation of the imprints of conceptual thought, the body continuously wanders in various states of happiness and suffering.
