Needless to say, those with understanding, merely by comprehending the meaning of such a name, can grasp the meaning of the tantra that reveals all dharmas as originally manifest in the mandala of the Buddha. Therefore, first, let's explain the meaning of the name. Generally, the word "tantra," derived from the Sanskrit word "Tantra," actually refers to the continuous existence of words and meanings that show the interconnectedness of various methods such as deities, mantras, samadhi, etc., which are the means to accomplish the supreme and common siddhis that are sought after. Specifically, "Secret Essence Tantra Decided" means: Like this, all dharmas of samsara and nirvana are inseparably enlightened, and originally exist in the inexhaustible wheel of adornment of body, speech, and mind. This is called secret. To realize it as it is, is the profound intention of the Victorious Ones. Because those who have not become vessels and have obscurations cannot realize it, it is secret. The way of secrecy is that the three kayas are inherently present within oneself, but are obscured by sudden obscurations and cannot be seen. Moreover, the profound views that reveal its way cannot be understood by one's own power, and there is no one else to reveal them, or even if they are revealed, they are difficult to realize, which is concealment. The view, meditation, and conduct of this way, if not kept secret from those who are not vessels, will leak the secret, becoming a place of slander, so it is not revealed, which is secrecy. Thus, it becomes secret through the two ways of concealment and secrecy. The essence refers to the ultimate reality of all dharmas, originally enlightened as the nature of the inexhaustible wheel of adornment of body, speech, and mind, which is the equality of great perfection. And, the profound and vast content that expresses it is the basis or essence or most supreme of all dharmas, therefore it becomes the essence. Thatness refers to the very nature of the three kayas, inseparable and indivisible. It pervades all things, and everything becomes the nature of thatness. Reality is thatness, and because it is not inverted, it is infallible. Such a reality, because it never deviates from its original nature, is immutable, therefore it is said so.
