And they also offered to the Tathagata with various manifestations of Bodhisattvas, and separately manifested thrones of seven treasures and sat on them to listen to the Dharma. Before those Bodhisattvas had been gone for long, the Sala cave also returned to its original state. In the four continents, the god named Indra Kauśika (梵文天城体,kauśika,梵文罗马拟音, कौशिका, कौशिका) , fearing that his life would end and he would be born in the animal realm, he, together with eighty-four thousand sons of the thirty-three heavens, went to the Sala cave and sat around the cave. By the power of the Bhagavan, he thought to himself: If I were to request the Gandharva's son Five Crests, and he were to openly praise the Bhagavan with his beautiful voice, then the Bhagavan would arise from Samadhi. So, he requested the Gandharva's son Five Crests. He also, by the power of the Bhagavan, took up the Gandharva's lute, and with pleasing songs and music, praised the Bhagavan with five hundred verses. As he began to praise, the Bhagavan entered into the Samadhi called "Beautiful Sound Fully Illuminating." Because of that Samadhi, in the Sahā world, all those with great miraculous powers, such as Yakshas, Rakshasas, Asuras, Garudas, Kinnaras, Mahoragas, Gandharvas, and all the sons of gods who dwell in the desire and form realms, gathered there. Those who had faith in song, having heard the song, became exceedingly pleased. Those who delighted in praise and beautiful sounds, having heard the praise of the Bhagavan, gave rise to exceedingly joyful reverence. Those who delighted in the sound of the flute, having heard the sound of the flute, became exceedingly pleased. Then, the Bhagavan arose from that Samadhi and looked at the door of the Sala cave, and Indra approached and asked: Where should I go? The Bhagavan replied: Let all the Yakshas who have come sit down. Then, in that Sala cave, as many Yakshas as the sands of twelve Ganges rivers sat down, and thus the Sala cave became very vast.

That Tathagata taught the Dharma to those assemblies. In that assembly, those who were practitioners of the Hearer Vehicle heard the teachings of the Hearer Vehicle, and among them, ninety-nine million kotis attained the fruit of stream-entry. In that assembly, those who were practitioners of the Great Vehicle heard only the teachings of the Great Vehicle. There, eighteen hundred thousand kotis, led by the Gandharva son with five crests, were established in the irreversible state of unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment. Among those who had not generated the mind for the three vehicles, some generated the mind for unsurpassed enlightenment, some generated the mind for the Hearer Vehicle, and some generated the mind for the Solitary Buddha Vehicle. Indra Kauśika was also completely liberated from fear, extended his life to a thousand years, and was established in the irreversible state of unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment. Son of the lineage, the Tathagata Shakyamuni is thus vast in opportunity. The mandala of that Tathagata's voice is also so vast that no one can measure the extent of its mandala of voice. Similarly, his skillful means for fully maturing beings are also vast, and no one can measure its extent. That Tathagata's body is also vast, and no one can measure either gazing upon his crown or the extent of his body. If this Buddha-field, the Sahā world, were such that all the assembled beings entered into the womb of that Tathagata and walked within it, or entered into one pore of that Tathagata and emerged from it, even with the divine eye, they could not measure whether the extent of one pore of that Tathagata was diminishing or filling up; thus, the body is vast. Furthermore, the Tathagata Shakyamuni possesses a vast Buddha-field, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River in the ten directions. For example, just as the Buddha-field, the Sahā world, is now filled with beings, even if all those beings entered into the Buddha-field, the Sahā world,

will wander there. Why is that? Because when the Tathagata first generated the mind of unsurpassed enlightenment, he made such a vow. Sons of good family, not to mention worlds as numerous as the sands of one Ganges river. Such vast worlds as numerous as the sands of a thousand Ganges rivers. For example, just as the Buddha-field of this world is now filled with sentient beings, all those sentient beings enter the vast world of the Buddha-field and wander there. Sons of good family, when the Tathagata first generated the mind, he made such a vow in order to attain unsurpassed wisdom. Therefore, the Tathagata possesses such a vast field. The Tathagata Shakyamuni is superior to other Tathagatas by those four qualities mentioned above. Sons of good family, take this beautiful moon flower and, by your power, go to the Buddha-field of this world in the west, and ask the Tathagata Shakyamuni if he is well and happy. Thus, the Tathagata Immaculate Glory Virtue King sent the Bodhisattva Secret Proclamation and the Bodhisattva Light Ray as messengers, together with twenty thousand Bodhisattvas, by the miraculous power of the Tathagata, in a single moment of thought, rising from the world of Flower Blossoms Everywhere, and came to this Saha world and reported what had happened. Similarly, from the Land of Supreme Bliss, the shaking of the seat of the Buddha Akshobhya, etc., as mentioned before. The Bodhisattvas of that field, and other immeasurable Bodhisattvas sent from the presence of the Buddhas of the East, were sent as messengers, and as soon as the names of the Buddhas of the East and the Buddha-fields were completely proclaimed, the Blessed One Shakyamuni said: From here to the south, in a world free from all sorrow, there is the Tathagata Sorrowless
