In order to distinguish "is," it points out that it has the nature of arising and ceasing. Although these are clearly established by reasoning that refutes permanence and reality, etc., here I will elaborate a little. In the reasoning for establishing momentariness, there are two types: independent and harmful. The first is that whatever exists as a real entity is pervaded by the fact that it does not depend on other causes of destruction, but is destroyed by its own moment. For example, like lightning and flames, etc. Sound is also a real entity, like this. Some people think that a vase, for example, is permanent until it meets the cause of destruction. As long as it is not smashed into pieces by a hammer, etc., the vase from yesterday is the same as the one today. They think that the one today is also the one tomorrow. Regarding this, the term "destruction" can be applied to both the object to be destroyed and the non-object that has been destroyed. In any case, no other cause is needed. According to the first case, no other cause is needed other than the cause of its own creation. According to the latter case, there can be no cause at all. If we take the example of a vase that is not met with the cause of destruction from its birth to a hundred moments, and then meets it and is destroyed, then there must be the first moment when it is just born, and then the second moment, etc., in sequence. If this is not the case, and the vase is the same in the state of each of these moments, then the vase at the moment of its birth and the vase at the moment of its final destruction must be the same. If this is the case, then the vase will be destroyed in one moment, and will not last for a hundred moments. Similarly, if each of the intermediate moments is not different from each other, then the moment will not be complete. The term "moment" cannot exist if it is different in nature from the vase, the vase is permanent, and the moment can be counted separately. Similarly, no matter how many days, years, or kalpas exist, they are made up of moments. Just as years, etc., cannot be established without accumulating moments. The saying "living for a hundred years" is also counting a hundred years one by one. A year cannot be a year if it does not have twelve months. A month has thirty days, a day has sixty yugas, a yuga has sixty kshanas, a kshana has six breaths, and one breath has inhalation and exhalation. Each of these has many kshanas. Like a hundred-petaled blue lotus.
