It is also said that they have realization. But the meaning at that time is that not only the emptiness aggregates clung to by the permanent, singular, and independent self, but also the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, through knowing dependent origination, cut off all the elaborations of thinking that the self exists inherently, which is freedom from elaboration, or it means those who realize subtle selflessness. This does not refer to freedom from elaboration that is not a category. The reason is that in the self-commentary of the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds, it is said that Hearers and Solitary Realizers do not have complete meditation on the selflessness of phenomena, which can be known from the sentence, "This selflessness is for the sake of liberating all sentient beings." Because it has been said in the commentaries on the Ornament for Clear Realization, etc., it will not be repeated here again. In short, if any scripture has the harm of reason, then interpreting the words of the Victorious One as provisional is the common law of all holy beings. In a situation where there is harm from reason, such as Hearers and Solitary Realizers completely realizing the selflessness of phenomena, what is the point of forcefully establishing it? If you say that it was said by Chandrakirti, then if Chandrakirti's words are explained correctly, it will prove that it is not the meaning of complete selflessness of phenomena, as mentioned slightly above. Even if it is established in this way, if you say that because it has already been promised elsewhere, it cannot be abandoned, then please do as you please! We are not harmed by reason, and we are praised by all scriptures, especially following the sect explained by the Regent, the great bodhisattva of the ten bhumis, it is difficult for you to say that there is anything more superior than this explanation of the intent of the Perfection of Wisdom. Someone says: The Regent also said in the Ornament for Clear Realization: "Because the realm of phenomena is without difference." Therefore, it is said that Hearers and Solitary Realizers also contemplate the realm of phenomena, which also shows that Hearers and Solitary Realizers realize the selflessness of phenomena. But this is not the case. Although the realm of phenomena is without difference, this refers to the difference in the cognition of the object, whether or not one can contemplate it as it is, not that one realizes the realm of phenomena without difference. If this were the case, it would directly contradict the explanation of the high and low realizations of the three vehicles and his own words. Even so, if you say that it is not a fault, just as the Treatise on Valid Cognition explains the existence or non-existence of external objects, this is also an unexamined statement. Because the Treatise on Valid Cognition says that the valid result that is unexamined conforms to the world, the valid result that is slightly examined conforms to the Sutra School, and the valid result that is thoroughly examined conforms to the Mind-Only School.

After explaining the three stages of measure and result in order, those become more and more superior, and one's own system is to hold onto the absence of external objects, so those are not contradictory. In the Ornament of Clear Realization, these two systems cannot be proven to be non-contradictory, so one must be taken as provisional. If so, then in the beginning, middle, and end of the Ornament, it is repeatedly said that the realization of the three vehicles has good and bad qualities. Also, with one word, everything that is said becomes without result, and if that is shown, if it is not contradictory, then even searching for contradictions in one's own words will not be found. Since such contradictions are actually spoken, who would use it to guide? Except for those who speak carelessly like you nowadays, who else with understanding can use that word to guide? For example, if a person repeatedly praises the many qualities of Indra, and then immediately says that Indra does not exist, then who would consider the Indra just mentioned to have qualities? Similarly, distorting the teachings of the ten-ground bodhisattvas and imposing the burden of contradiction on the great beings is truly lamentable! Saying that the five necessities of teaching the Tathagatagarbha in the Uttaratantra are also to show the Tathagatagarbha as provisional is the same as that reasoning! The meaning of quoting the Pramāṇasamuccaya and other texts has already been explained elsewhere, so I will not elaborate here. Furthermore, someone says that as proof that the Uttaratantra is a Prasangika text, it says, 'The ultimate truth of the self-born ones is to be realized only through faith.' Thus, the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas also say that the Tathagatagarbha is to be realized through faith, because it is necessary to contemplate through the path of faith, and only after contemplation can one realize it. And, 'The blazing orb of the sun cannot be seen by those without eyes.' Thus, it is said that ordinary beings, Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and bodhisattvas who have newly entered the Mahayana cannot realize it, which means that they cannot realize it directly. It is true that the Uttaratantra is a text that explains the meaning of the Madhyamaka, and that it ultimately establishes the One Vehicle, etc., which is well known to all scholars, but it cannot be realized directly. If merely believing in existence with faith makes one a Madhyamaka Prasangika, then those who adhere to other-emptiness become the most Prasangika, and those who slander them are among the Prasangikas.
