It is not present in those who have abandoned desire for the realm of form. Similarly, it is not present in the cessation attainment. It is also not present when meditating on the selflessness of the path that transcends the world. This is the second transformation. The third transformation is that for the objects, the six types of form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and phenomena, whatever is the object or the grasping and conceptualizing, that is, the six consciousnesses of the eye and so on, for them, whether it is good corresponding to non-attachment and so on, or evil corresponding to attachment and so on, and corresponding to the mind-born of good and non-good, or not corresponding to the non-associated compositional factors, it is none of these. The divisions of mental factors are: the alaya consciousness, the afflicted mind, and the manifest consciousnesses, these five that go as the retinue of all without distinction, and the differentiated, the undetermined, therefore the determined, or the five with determined objects, their objects are differentiated, not all. Among the mental factors, there are eleven that are good, similarly, there are six root afflictions and twenty secondary afflictions, as well as four variable ones. These arise correspondingly with the three feelings of pleasure, pain, and equanimity, as appropriate. The five omnipresent ones, such as contact of the three aggregates of the first division, as mentioned above. For the object of thought, there is desire, aspiration, for that object, there is निश्चित (藏文:ངེས་པར་འཛིན་པ་,梵文天城体:निश्चित,梵文罗马拟音:niścita,汉语字面意思:certain) grasping, there is conviction, there is the object of familiarity, there is unforgotten mindfulness and so on. And one-pointedness of mind, samadhi, and wisdom, which is able to thoroughly distinguish. In this way, in the place of conviction, others will certainly not fail to appear, therefore one should know this for all, called determined distinction, that is, the five. Believing in karma and its results is faith, and restraining from misdeeds by the power of self or dharma is conscientiousness, and having shame by the power of the world. And non-attachment and so on, that is, the three of non-hatred and non-ignorance, and diligence that rejoices in virtue, the pliancy of body and mind, and being cautious about what to adopt and abandon, with the term non-carelessness, equanimity is shown. Equanimity is the equality of mind, and abiding as it is, and spontaneous accomplishment, these three show the beginning, middle, and end times of equanimity. Agitation and dullness make the mind unequal, because without these, there is no equality of mind at first. After that, entering without effort is abiding as it is.

Effortlessly engaging, spontaneously accomplished. This is the function of afflictions and near afflictions not seizing the opportunity. Not harming others through killing, imprisonment, etc., is compassion, which is eleven virtues. The six root afflictions are: attachment, desiring existence and its resources; anger, tormenting the mind from all places; ignorance, the wrong view of not knowing the truth and the results of actions; pride, the arrogance of holding onto wealth due to the view of self; and the two views of holding onto annihilationism, eternalism, and wrong views as supreme, and doubt, hesitating about actions and their results, etc. The near afflictions are: anger towards what immediately causes harm, holding grudges, concealing faults, scolding with harsh words, jealousy of others' perfections, stinginess not giving away wealth and Dharma, deceiving others, concealing one's own faults, deceit, being arrogant due to one's own perfections, harming others without compassion, not fearing evil with oneself as the reason, shamelessness, shamelessness with others as the reason, inner dullness, outer agitation, disbelief is the opposite of faith, laziness is the opposite of diligence, carelessness is the opposite of mindfulness, forgetfulness is the opposite of memory, mental scattering is distraction, unknowingly engaging in the actions of the three doors such as walking is non-awareness, and regret arising after recollection and sleep that gathers inward are also the same. What is expressed by the universally feeling consciousness is coarse conceptualization and detailed observation, and these two are the distinction between mind and wisdom. Twenty near afflictions and two other transformations, a total of four. There are four situations for these, that is, whether or not they belong to afflictions. Starting from the root consciousness, eye consciousness etc. and the consciousness that arises subsequently, there is only one. If asked whether two or many arise simultaneously, it is not certain, but they arise according to how the causes for their arising are present or complete. The five, eye consciousness etc., arise from the root consciousness or the alaya consciousness. Where and by what causes do the five consciousnesses arise? Do the consciousnesses arise simultaneously or not simultaneously?
