Take skullcaps from three human heads. Inside the skullcap on top of that, light a lamp made of a large amount of fat and coarse cloth. Cover it with a female skullcap, collect the smoke, and mix it like ink. Hold it during an eclipse and recite secret mantras. If you apply this substance to your eyes, you will see the three realms. If you make a dot on your forehead, no one will see me. If you apply it to your feet, you will achieve swift walking. Whoever this substance touches will be under my control. Alternatively, in a precious container, light a lamp of excellent pale yellow ghee and white lotus wicks, or burn fragrant tree branches, collect the smoke as before, and apply it to the eyes to turn it into eye medicine. Mix white sandalwood, cloves, saffron, and red sandalwood to make pills, wrap them with gold, silver, and copper, and practice during an eclipse. If you make a dot on your forehead, you will achieve invisibility, where no one can see you. Alternatively, mix equal parts of vana-khoti, nagi, red sandalwood, camphor, and agarwood to make incense. First perform self-generation deity yoga and offerings, etc., and then protect yourself, the place, and the substances. When the sun or moon begins to be obscured, you should single-mindedly devote yourself to the yoga of the deity and mantra in the practice room, and practice the substance of accomplishment. When the practice assistant signals that the sun or moon has been released from the eclipse, that is the measure of the substance being accomplished. Medicines empowered by reciting the root mantra as much as possible will cause the treasure of wisdom and courage to burst forth, accomplish the eloquence of Sarasvati, and so forth, bringing about immeasurable qualities. The detailed methods for compounding these can be learned from separate texts on extracting essences and pills. Samaya! The activity of swift and sharp action is the fire activity that quickly produces the fruits of all kinds of actions. That is, one should accomplish whatever activity is to be done with each substance through visualization and recitation that are in accordance with each activity, and with unerring oral instructions. This can be learned from a separate text on fire offerings. Samaya! Gya! Next, to embellish the mantra, one mudra activity will be explained. With the two hands joined in prayer with the palms slightly cupped, the tips of the two little fingers touching, the middle fingers bent at the middle joint, pressing the nails of the middle fingers against the tips of the two index fingers, with the middle fingers pointing slightly forward. The thumb, ring finger, and little finger remain in their original prayer position, like an opening lotus. This is the root mudra of Manjushri, known as the supreme lotus mudra that accomplishes everything. And the right hand holds the vajra fist, with the middle and index fingers aligned and raised, which is the sword mudra. Just these two, or if you wish to elaborate, through praise for each activity and with the mudra corresponding to each mantra, together with the mantra, visualize all food, clothing, and implements as objects of accomplishment, manifestations of the deity, and bless them by touching them with the mudra, etc. In this way, obstacles are pacified, and the ability to accomplish all kinds of activities effortlessly increases, and the two kinds of accomplishments are achieved as desired. Through such methods, one can transform inauspicious places and paths into auspicious ones, obtain the accomplishment of seeing auspicious signs, offer joyful gifts to like-minded male and female yogis, pacify the appearance of obstacles, inspire the deities, and offer feasts of offerings to the deities that bring joy and comfort to oneself, and so forth. At various moments of realization, secretly recite the mantra, bind the mudra, and point it in the directions, so that whatever appears is brought under control and becomes a great feast of accomplishment. This is what a yogi should do at any time.
