Therefore, this refers to the Dharmata that is free from the two obscurations, approaching the state of becoming its own nature, or the state of entering, which is the unchanging wisdom that is non-dual with the Dharmadhatu. The ninth question is, what would be the faults if there were any? The four faults of not being completely transformed are: the fault of having no basis for those who have already abandoned afflictions to not enter that continuum again; the fault of having no basis for the antidote path itself to enter that continuum; the fault of having no basis for being considered as those who have attained Nirvana; and the fault of having no basis for establishing the differences of the three Bodhis, which are the ultimate fruits of the Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and the Great Vehicle. These four faults should be understood. Furthermore, to explain the key to understanding this in detail, if the transformation of having abandoned what should be abandoned through the path and having attained realization does not exist, a then, there would be the fault of having no basis for those who have already abandoned afflictions to not enter that continuum again. For example, in the continuum where what should be abandoned by seeing has been abandoned, that which should be abandoned no longer arises, because that Bodhisattva's continuum has obtained the transformation of complete transformation, so there is no opportunity for it to enter that basis. Otherwise, even if the obscurations have been abandoned once, if the mind continuum has not been transformed, it will arise again as before. Similarly, the process up to the Buddha-ground should be understood. When the continuum has not been transformed, it becomes the basis for what should be abandoned to enter; when the continuum has been transformed, it becomes the basis for what should be abandoned not to enter, because of the existence of transformation. If it is thought that just as seeds are burned by fire, the seeds of what should be abandoned are destroyed, and it is merely that they no longer arise, what harm is there even if there is no transformation? Although the seeds of what should be abandoned have been destroyed, by what distinction of which continuum must this be established? It is not permissible if there is no distinction, because without clearly pointing out the distinction of the continuum in which the antidote wisdom arises in the continuum as "afflictions have been exhausted," then even the way of destroying the seeds cannot be known. If this is the case, then in the continuum where the seeds of what should be abandoned have been exhausted, it is due to the difference of the previous transformation that they no longer arise, and it is not like the continuum being cut off and having no basis. Therefore, the fact that afflictions arise in some continua and do not arise in others is because of not having obtained b transformation and having obtained transformation.

Just as because of cataracts, the appearance of tangled hair will not occur in eyes without cataracts. Furthermore, if there is no complete transformation, there will be the fault of lacking a basis for the path that is the antidote to what is to be abandoned. For example, "This person is a path of seeing," "This person is a second ground," and so on. For the differences in the continuum, the basis for the higher and higher paths is the earlier and earlier transformations, because without the earlier, there is no later. Just as if a seed does not transform into a sprout, the appearance of a trunk, etc., will not occur. That transformation also applies both the name and meaning of that path, just as the Buddha ground is called the path of no more learning. Furthermore, if there is no complete transformation, there will be the fault of lacking a basis for designating as nirvana. For example, just as one designates this as a samsaric person by taking the continuum of contaminated aggregates as the basis for designation, similarly, by taking that uncontaminated transformation as the basis for designation, one designates this as a person who has passed into nirvana. If there is no transformation, then merely the continuum of aggregates such as the mind will not have a basis for being designated as a person who has passed into nirvana, just like the state before the transformation. Furthermore, in the path of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, as is asserted, without the remaining aggregates,
