Just as impermanence is used to represent the opposite of permanence, the excellent Dharma that surpasses other paths itself represents it. Self-nature is what is represented in relation to the other three preceding ones, and because it is like the opposite of its own meaning, it is also the representer, just as using a swollen belly to represent a vase. Therefore, the so-called representer refers to any Dharma that, in the realm of conceptual knowledge and expression, is established as the represented, such as a vase, and the opposite of the meaning of the establisher is the representer, which is widely known from epistemology. The establisher is the nature of shape, color, touch, etc., or its qualities or functions, etc., in various situations, just as it is established or imputed there. Here, too, the former three rely on that realm, so that they can be understood in that way, different from others, and it is shown that it has such a function. Just as the seed of a sprout has the ability to generate itself, these three represent that the union of the three wisdoms has that ability, so the fruit represents the cause. Fourth, the representer is the nature of what is to be done, so it is also the represented, and by the power of distinguishing others, it is self-established or understood, so it is also the representer, and in this way, the represented three wisdoms are understood through the four representers. Second, there are four: knowledge, difference, function, and self-nature. First, there are three: the characteristics of the knowledge of the base, the path, and the omniscient. First, in this case of the base knowledge, the five aggregates of the base, and also the mind, mental factors, the four aggregates of name, and the knowledge of suchness are spoken of, so these wisdoms of the base knowledge are the situation of conventional and ultimate truth, respectively. Relying on that base knowledge, one can understand in that way. The path aspect is also the same. Moreover, relying on the mother of the union of base knowledge, one knows that the Tathagata appears in the past, etc., and 1. knows that the world, the five aggregates, is not mistaken in name, and in ultimate truth, knows that it is the nature of permanence and momentary non-destruction. 2. The mental conduct of sentient beings, such as attachment, hatred, ignorance, and equality, totaling twenty-one thousand, a total of eighty-four thousand countless, knows that it is the immeasurable nature of the Dharmadhatu, free from elaboration. 3. Regarding that mind itself

Knowing that the mind is gathered and focused inward, 4. Knowing that the mind is not gathered and is distracted outward, 5. Knowing that these gathered and distracted minds, in the ultimate truth, are imperishable, and their nature is the nature of reality, 6. Knowing the mind of ordinary beings, which is a mind with attachment, hatred, and ignorance, 7. By the word "etc.", knowing the mind of the noble ones who are free from attachment, etc., 8. Knowing that the mind itself is the immeasurable vastness of the nature of the Dharmadhatu, 9. Knowing that the observing mind also becomes vast because it pervades all objects, 10. Or knowing that all sentient beings are selfless in the ultimate truth, and equally regarding them as illusory names, knowing that it is immeasurable and uncountable because there is no basis for each to be determined, 11. Knowing that consciousness cannot be shown to the sense faculties by analogy or nature, 12. Knowing that the mind has no nature, so even the five eyes of the Tathagata cannot see it, 13. Knowing that these consciousnesses, for the aspects of shaking, etc., such as shaking, spreading, gathering, closing, etc., are called minds, and truly knowing that these are just names, 14. And, regarding the self and its basis—the world, that is, the aggregates—the four views of considering it to be permanent, impermanent, both permanent and impermanent, and neither permanent nor impermanent, are based on the past extreme; the four views of considering the self and the world to be finite, infinite, both finite and infinite, and neither finite nor infinite, are based on the future extreme; the four views of considering the Tathagata to exist after death, not exist, both exist and not exist, and neither exist nor not exist, are based on Nirvana; the two views of considering the body and life to be one and different are based on the body and life. In the past, when the Teacher, the Bhagavan, turned the wheel of Dharma in Jambudvipa, the non-Buddhists gathered all the views here and asked questions. He considered that if there is no common basis, there will be no special qualities, and even if the common basis is selflessness, if it is temporarily denied, it will not have practical significance. Therefore, among the fourteen unanswered views, the first three are mainly about the reality of objects. The view of the Samkhya school is extreme, so it is called shaking; the second three are the negation of the view of the Charvaka school, so it is called entering, that is, thinking that there is no afterlife, so it is called gathering; the third three and the thirteenth, saying that the body is the life, and the life is the body, saying that the nature is permanent, and the state is impermanent, this is the view of the naked ascetics, that is, both negation and affirmation.
