Because it does not arise, there is no encounter. If it exists, like the intermediate consciousness, it would perform both the actions of destroying and generating before and after, so the cause of generation would also become a destroyer. For example, when cooking rice with fire, the later states such as uncooked, cooked, and overcooked destroy the earlier states, so the cause of generation becomes the cause of destruction. If it is a cause, it will either produce two contradictory results, or it will be destroyed as soon as it arises, so conditioned phenomena will not cease and go elsewhere, and it can also be established without relying on other causes. I think that the previous moment generates the next moment, and at the same time, it destroys itself, so it also becomes a destroyer. If it is a cause, then self-destruction is the cause, which is universal. Third, the Vaibhashikas believe in representational shapes and that shapes are different from colors. If so, shapes like long ones would become the objects of both eye and body consciousness, because they can be directly seen and known by the eyes, and also known by touching with the body. Therefore, the Sautrantikas believe that shapes are not substantial, but are the consciousness that becomes the object of the aggregates. They say that this is a conceptual imputation based on the difference in the arrangement of colors and tangible objects. If shapes were substantial, then micro-particles should also have shapes, but micro-particles do not have shapes, and if they did, then micro-particles would become divisible. If so, then colors and tangible objects would also not exist, because shape is their difference, and if shape is neither one nor different from them, then because it is not substantial, it will not appear to the root consciousness, so the statement that shape is not substantial is also incorrect. Second, the verbal representation is the sound of the nature of language. The Sautrantikas believe that representation is not karma, but is intention in all forms, and they spoke of two karmas, intention and thought, which are based on the cause and motivation in sequence. When the Sutras say that body and speech are karma, this is to impute intention as the ultimate karma. That is to say, if the intention is virtuous or non-virtuous, the body and speech will also change accordingly. Second, non-representational form. Proof: cause, characteristic, characteristic of cause, nature, and boundary. There are six things to be examined. First, if non-representational form is proven by scripture, then the Sutra says that the form included in the three places includes all forms, and there are also visible and obstructive forms.

There are forms that are visible and have obstruction, and there are also forms that are invisible and have no obstruction. Thus, three types of forms are mentioned, and there are no others besides the last one. Also, the form of stainlessness is mentioned, which is none other than the discipline of non-outflow. Furthermore, it is said that even without consciousness and mind, there are things that increase merit. When the venerable one inquired of the Buddha, the Blessed One spoke of seven things that generate merit from material sources. Possessing these seven, merit continuously increases without ceasing, whether walking, standing, sleeping, sitting, etc. These seven are: offering gardens to the Sangha, building temples there, offering bedding and cushions, continuously offering food, providing charity to unexpected guests, providing charity to the sick and those who care for them, and offering alms in the temple during bad weather such as wind and rain. Similarly, the seven things that generate merit not from material sources are: Hearing that the Tathagata or his Shravakas reside in a certain place and gaining great joy; resolving to go and greet the Tathagata or Shravakas; seeing them on the road and generating joy and faith; hearing the Dharma from them; upholding the precepts of refuge. If one possesses these, then such a son of good family, etc., whether walking or doing other things, merit will manifestly increase and arise. Therefore, these are also intermediate non-conscious virtues. If they were conscious, they would not arise during sleep, etc., because they arise from (consciousness). Similarly, because it is said that one does not personally do the paths of action, etc. For example, if one entrusts another to kill, and the act of killing by the other is completed, even if one has conscious virtue in one's mind, the path of action, etc., will arise. Also, the internal sense base is invisible and has obstruction. The external sense base is visible and has obstruction. The sense base of Dharma is invisible and has no obstruction. If it is said like this, then the formless that has no consciousness should be called non-form. In the samadhi of the eightfold noble path, there is no consciousness. If it is said that there is no non-conscious abandonment of the three verbal actions and the seven, then it would be incomplete. And the Pratimoksha vow is not continuous, the vows are like bubbles, and so on. The Sautrantika says, non-conscious.
