One will obtain the great meaning that contains millions of meanings. Second, to properly contemplate the meaning of the instructions, there are two ways: contemplating through thought and contemplating through meditation. First, it is explained through seven verses starting with "Then, first." After obtaining the instructions, from "Then, first" or "Initially," the Bodhisattva who guards vows and is diligent, regarding the Dharma of the twelve branches of scripture such as the Sutra Pitaka, non-duality refers to the absence of the duality of grasper and grasped, or the meaning of Suchness that is free from the duality of existence and non-existence, which is distinguished and clearly explained, such as the Sutra of the Ten Bhumis, the Lankavatara Sutra, and the Moon Lamp Sutra, etc., merely dwelling on the name, thinking that the name of this Sutra is this, merely dwelling on that point, this is the root mind. Then, the one who guards vows and is diligent, in sequence, thoroughly distinguishes and examines the words of that Sutra, that is, from "Thus have I heard" etc., until the end is completely finished, thoroughly analyzing all the words, examining how many chapters this Sutra has, how many shlokas, and how many letters there are. This is called subsequent examination or the mind that follows. Within each, properly, also discern its meaning. That is, within each Sutra Pitaka, there is nothing wrong with emphasizing the word "in," but according to the Commentary of the Wise, it is necessary to emphasize "within each, properly with one's own wisdom." The meaning is that after analyzing the words of the Sutra Pitaka, one should know what the meaning of this word is, contemplate the meaning to be expressed, contemplate the letters that can express, and count, measure, think, and separately think about these meanings. The first is like the number of the five aggregates, eighteen realms, and twelve sources, and the form aggregate has ten sources, and one part of the Dharma realm is non-substantial, totaling eleven, and the feeling aggregate has six collections from the contact arising from the gathering of the eye faculty to the mind faculty, etc. In short, it is to count the meanings and examine them. Measuring means not exaggerating beyond that number, nor diminishing it, but determining the number and separately measuring its characteristics.

It is thinking. Discrimination is: for the Dharma that is so limited, for the reasons why form and so on are established here, to discriminate and contemplate with the intellect that possesses the logic of valid cognition. Individual discrimination is: for the meanings of the previous three, to individually discriminate their own characteristics and common characteristics. In short, for how many kinds of phenomena there are, contemplate their number and calculate accurately without error. For the transformation of more or less, analyze the reasons for such certainty with reason, and thus for the meanings of those numbers, individually distinguish their own characteristics and common characteristics. The letters that can express, such as A and so on, each syllable does not have the function of showing meaning. Many letters combine to form words, words combine to form sentences, and many sentences combine to form a continuous text of language, so there is a function of showing meaning. Therefore, for whether letters have meaning or not, two investigations should be carried out, which is called the mind of discrimination. After those meanings are determined and grasped, that is, for the characteristics of the meaning of words, and the number of meanings, etc., and the characteristics of their classification and characteristics, to accurately grasp without error with wisdom, this is the mind of definite grasping. These four minds do not merely roughly determine the words and meanings of the Sutras and other Dharmas, but determine them very carefully and definitely, and then below it, "To completely summarize the Dharma", means that if the teachings of this Sutra from beginning to end are summarized into a whole, it is known that there is only so much. Even if the meanings of all the Sutras are summarized, there is only so much of the essence of the teachings, which is to extract the key points. For example, in the "Ten Bhumi Sutra", the classification of the ten bhumis is widely explained, and all of these are included in the explanation of the ten bhumis, so the meaning of the name of the Ten Bhumi Sutra is summarized into the fundamental mind, thinking that there is only so much. To completely summarize the meaning of one Dharma, this is the mind of summarizing. In short, although the Sutras are widely explained, some from the aspect of the merits of the path, some from the aspect of the order, some from the aspect of the result, some from the aspect of what is to be abandoned, etc., all of these need to be understood, but the essence of the meaning is only so much that one should practice now, this is the key to yoga, it is the summary of the key points of the Sutras. In this way, after there is no doubt about the meaning explained by the Sutras, the meaning of what is said in the Sutras, like the ten bhumis.
