Completely purifying by removing the sudden defilements of the earth and making the mind unborn again, into the nature of being without outflows, it is considered to possess the four qualities of pure conduct. The Tathagatas teach the Dharma in accordance with the dispositions, inclinations, and tendencies of those to be tamed, so there are many teachings that are given through intention and hidden intention. If these intentions are not properly understood, and if they are taken literally, the correct definitive meaning will not be understood. If the guiding meaning with intention is understood according to the literal meaning of the words, the meaning will be grasped in a reversed way. Therefore, it is very important to distinguish this, so the four hidden intentions are explained, the four intentions are explained, and the benefits of the eight antidotal intentions are explained, making three teachings in total. The first is: hidden intention for guiding individuals, hidden intention for the characteristics of phenomena, hidden intention for the antidote to subdue the faults in the continuum of those to be tamed, and hidden intention for transforming the meaning to be expressed by words and letters from worldly conventions to other meanings, making four in total. If these meanings are stated in order, it is: in order to guide those Shravakas who cannot enter the non-self of phenomena onto the path of liberation, considering that there are aggregates and other phenomena of the non-self of persons, this refers only to the fact that the imputed person does not exist, and that dependent arising phenomena of other-powered nature exist nominally, therefore it is taught in this way. Saying that there is no self-nature and no birth, etc., does not mean that the phenomena that exist nominally do not exist at all, and that there is no appearance of arising and ceasing, but it is a hidden intention for the nature or self-nature of ultimate truth. For example, among the three natures that are taught, the nature or characteristic of the imputed is completely non-existent, therefore it is without characteristics; the other-powered mind and mental factors appear as places, things, bodies, etc., and although there is an appearance of arising and ceasing, it appears in this way due to the power of causes and conditions, and not by its own self-nature, therefore birth is without self-nature; the perfectly established is the naturally passed beyond sorrow, peaceful, empty, ultimate truth, which is without self-nature. Hidden intention for the antidote is, as before, for the faults in the continuum of the individual

In order to subdue (beings') habits, just as (Shakyamuni Buddha) previously said, "I am the past Vipashyi Buddha," etc., like the eight situations that will be discussed below. The so-called "obscure intention" refers to an intention that is not literal but has profound meaning. As it is said: "Knowing what is without essence as having essence, abiding in perversion, being extremely defiled by afflictions, one will attain supreme Bodhi." Like these words. If this sentence is understood literally, it seems to be explaining the reason why Bodhi cannot be attained. However, in reality, the word "Sara" can refer to both distraction and essence. Therefore, adding the negative "A" before it means "Asara," which is without distraction, meaning to realize or know the higher training of mind as the essence. Holding purity, happiness, permanence, and self as the four perversions is a perverse clinging to things. Transforming from this perversion means knowing impermanence, suffering, impurity, and selflessness, and abiding in the practice of higher wisdom. For the benefit of sentient beings, enduring long-term asceticism and afflictions, thereby being extremely defiled by afflictions, one can attain supreme Bodhi. In the Great Commentary, the first three verses are combined with the stages of aspiration, seeing, and meditation, respectively. But even if combined, it is fine. If not combined separately, it is sufficient to combine them with samadhi, wisdom, and diligence. In this way, there are four types of obscure intentions. Second, considering the equality of the Dharmakaya of all Buddhas, the teacher Shakya King said, "I am the past Vipashyi Buddha." Considering another meaning of the ultimate truth, it is proclaimed that all dharmas are without self-nature, unarisen, unceasing, originally peaceful, and naturally in Nirvana. Similarly, also considering different times. For those who are lazy and unable to perform a small amount of merit, it is said that as long as they make aspirations in the Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha, they will be reborn there, which is considering rebirth in another lifetime. Considering the thoughts of sentient beings, for those who are able to extensively perform generosity and other virtuous deeds, praise generosity; for those who think that only a small amount of generosity and other virtuous deeds is sufficient, belittle generosity, or show that it is very ordinary, and for those who think that generosity alone is sufficient and cling to it as the most supreme, (one should) in a reasonable way...
