And, because no other cause is found. Others say that the cause that produces things, after producing them, the things that have already been produced do not need to be produced again and again, but remain in the state of being produced for as long as it lasts, during which there is no other moment of arising and ceasing, and no other cause is needed. If this is said, then stating the unreasonable contradiction is: if things are produced and not immediately destroyed, but destroyed later, then is the thing itself not destroyed in an instant but exists, and then destroyed later? Or is it that which is destroyed in an instant, and then ceases later? If it is the former, the thing does not perish in an instant but exists, because the nature of existence does not have the nature of destruction, so that existing thing will not perish even later, but will exist constantly. If it has the nature of destruction, then the nature of destruction does not have the nature of permanence and lasting existence, so it will perish from the first moment, and it is impossible to continue to exist without ceasing, so it is contradictory. Also, after things are produced, how long will they last before they finally cease? It must be stated what the cause of cessation is. If it is the cause of production itself, then it is contradictory, because production is the existence of things, and cessation is the non-existence of things, if one cause produces, then that cause should not simultaneously produce the contradiction of things existing and not existing, just as light and darkness, cold and warmth, cannot be produced by one cause. Because of the contradiction, it means that things themselves are produced and not stopped in the second moment, but do not have the nature of destruction, but exist constantly after being produced, then it contradicts both scripture and reasoning. How does it contradict? The Blessed One's teachings say: 'Conditioned things are like illusions arising from causes and conditions, they are of the nature of arising and ceasing, so they are destroyed, they do not last longer than a moment after arising, so they are temporary, they are destroyed immediately after arising, so they are short-lived,' which contradicts these statements. Reasoning also contradicts yogic direct perception, yogis, through practicing and recollecting the Four Noble Truths,

If one sees the characteristics of arising and ceasing of phenomena, one will generate weariness, be separated from attachment, attain liberation, and achieve Nirvana. If one does not see in this way, one will not generate weariness, nor attain separation from attachment and liberation. For example, ordinary people in the world, when they see people dying, know that they are decaying and impermanent, and although they generate weariness, during that time, they generate the thought of permanence. Therefore, no one can, with a weary mind, be separated from attachment to all actions. "Because of its non-abiding nature" means stating the contradiction established by inference. If actions do not immediately perish after arising, but can abide for some time, then do actions abide by their own power, or by the power of other causes and conditions? If it is as the former says, then they should abide constantly, but there is no action that can ultimately abide at any time, because its nature is that of momentary destruction, and its continuum also perishes when it encounters conditions. Moreover, because no other cause is seen by valid cognition to make it abide, there is no one who can make it abide by other causes and conditions. Because its own nature is established, it does not abide in the second moment. "Because of absence" means that some say: phenomena abide for some time without the need for other causes, but only after they have arisen, if they do not encounter the cause of destruction, they can abide, and only when they encounter the cause of destruction do they perish. For example, blue iron, if there is no heat, can abide for some time, and when it encounters fire, the blue color and coolness perish, and red color and heat arise. Also, like a pottery vase, it can abide before it encounters a hammer, and when it encounters a hammer, the vase breaks and becomes rubble. If it is said in this way, it is not reasonable, because phenomena are self-destructive, and there is no other cause of destruction. How is it absent? For example, when a stone is thrown into the sky, although there is a cause for throwing the stone into the sky, such as a hand, etc., there is no need for a cause to make it fall to the ground, because it can fall by its own nature. Likewise, phenomena, at the moment they are produced by their respective causes of production, are self-destructive, and there is no need for other causes. Like the blue color of blue iron, and the shape of a vase, even before encountering fire and hammering, they are self-destructive in every moment.
