The qualified disciple who is truly able to receive teachings is one whose Vajrayana lineage is awakened, who abides by their vows, who serves the guru with reverence, and who possesses compassion – possessing these four characteristics. In particular, they are one who desires to effortlessly attain the fruit of unsurpassed enlightenment in one lifetime, to abide in the supreme state of non-learning union, and who possesses the mind of seeking liberation. When these characteristics are complete, the method of the profound path of Vajra Yoga should be taught by a qualified guru who is learned and whose mind of enlightenment is mature, whose mindstream is ripened by empowerment and who abides by their vows, whose experience of the three Vajras of the path has reached its limit, who possesses the wisdom of realizing that very nature, and who possesses the compassion and ability to guide others. As it is said in the Great Perfection of Ati: "Learned and free from worldly affairs, having reached the limit in the meaning of Dharma-nature, without delusion in the objects of desire, are the characteristics of a secret mantra guru." So it is said. The third is: "The Victorious Ones, according to the order of minds, the immeasurable Dharma gates of the vehicle, all the teachings that have been taught, are the path to enter here, and by this alone, all philosophical tenets are determined. Therefore, this is the guru of all Dharmas, this is certain." This means that the Victorious Ones, the perfectly complete Buddhas, have taught in accordance with the order of the minds of those to be trained, and have taught accordingly the methods of taming beings in whatever way is appropriate, so they are inconceivable and limitless. As it is said in the Extensive Play of Illusion: "The unsurpassed vehicle that is said to be immeasurable, is merely what appears to each individual's own mind." As such, the gateways to the vehicle are also one from the perspective of the result, and two from the distinction of large and small or cause and effect. There are three: the Hearer, Solitary Realizer, and Bodhisattva, or the vehicles of origination, guidance, asceticism, knowledge, and empowerment. There are three vehicles of cause and one vehicle of result, making four. Adding the vehicle of gods and humans before that makes five. From the perspective of the three categories of characteristics, the three categories of outer tantras, and the three categories of inner tantras, there are nine vehicles, and so on, until the order of minds is exhausted, the edge of the vehicle is also without end. As it is said in the Lankavatara Sutra: "The many kinds of vehicles are taught in order to tame sentient beings."

I have spoken of various differences, yet I have also taught a single vehicle. As long as the mind continues to enter, there is no end to the vehicle. As it is said. Similarly, in the Abhidharmakosha, it is said: "As an antidote to all actions, the aggregation of Dharma is taught in harmony." Thus, considering the antidotes, there are eighty-four thousand doors of Dharma. If these are summarized, they are the twelve divisions of scripture. If these are further summarized into the three or four pitakas, all these teachings are merely steps on the path to enter the ultimate completion stage of Anuttarayoga, the yoga of the three vajras. The reason for this is: For Bodhisattvas who enter the profound path of Anuttara-tantra from the beginning, there is no need to mention it. For the time being, those who enter the paths of the Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas of the Sutra path, and those who enter the door of the three lower Tantras of Mantra, having mastered their own paths to the end, and having obtained the fruits of their own paths, such as the Arhats of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and the Bodhisattvas and the tenth-level Bodhisattvas of the three lower Tantras, even if they can obtain the position of the great regent of the Buddhas, all of them must ultimately rely on the completion stage of Anuttarayoga to achieve unsurpassed enlightenment. Moreover, even those who have entered the Anuttara and have perfected the generation stage path, there is no way to attain Buddhahood without entering the completion stage. Therefore, this ultimate completion stage path is the single path traversed by all Buddhas of the three times. As it is said in the Tattvasamgraha: "The Shravaka vehicle itself is not a vehicle, nor is the Pratyekabuddha said to be a Buddha-field. The glorious Vajrayana is the vehicle of Buddhahood, and it is divided into the intermediate and final vehicles. Therefore, having abandoned the unsurpassed vehicle, one will not attain the desired unsurpassed enlightenment." As it is said. This unsurpassed vehicle itself establishes the teachings of cause and effect and the ultimate conclusions of all vehicles, like a general commentary on all Sutras and Tantras. The meaning of the earlier stages of the vehicle are all included in the later stages and reach their peak. Therefore, this profound path of Anuttarayoga is the pinnacle or the greatest of all the doors of Dharma of the teachings and vehicles.
