The nine seed syllables of the life mantra, such as Āḥ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: आः, Sanskrit Romanization: āḥ, Chinese literal meaning: Ah), the five seed syllables of the action mantra, and the three seed syllables of the subjugation mantra, are connected to form the seventeen syllables, which are recited with single-mindedness. Although it is said that the retinue mantras such as the Ten Wrathful Ones should be recited at one-tenth of the main deity's mantra during the common Tsog offering and practice, it is not mentioned in the scriptures in this context of the self-benefit gradual path to enlightenment, so it is not necessary to recite them. In some practices, it is considered unnecessary to add the three subjugation syllables during the recitation, which is due to the influence of the recitation section within the common Tsog offering practice. Here, since the mantra list arranged in the self-benefit ritual clearly contains seventeen syllables, it is reasonable to connect the subjugation syllables. Moreover, one should avoid faults in the mantra and Samadhi, such as reciting too fast, too slow, too loudly, too softly, sinking into drowsiness, and mental wandering. With the clarity of Samadhi and firm pride, one should diligently learn to recite the mantra clearly and purely. At the end of each session, one should perform a concise offering and praise of emptiness. Then, with three Hūṃs (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hūṃ), one should gather the mandala into the inconceivable realm of Dharmadhatu. With three Phaṭs (Tibetan: ཕཊ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: फट्, Sanskrit Romanization: phaṭ, Chinese literal meaning: Phaṭ), one should arise as the deity of the session break, transform all outer and inner phenomena into a wheel of light of the deity's mantra, and merge it into the continuous stream of Samadhi like a river. Regarding the method of dividing sessions, only four sessions are mentioned for self-benefit, without clear details. Although it is said in the Tsog offering practice text that there are two sessions in the morning and evening, and two sessions at noon, making a total of four sessions, it is not contradictory to follow the common practice in this case of self-benefit. From the second day onwards, at the beginning of each scattered session, one should complete the seven-branch preliminary practices, and also bless the mala at the beginning of the recitation. On the first day, the evening and night sessions, and from the second day onwards, at the beginning of the three sessions of morning, evening, and night, it is sufficient to simply visualize the protective circle and then enter the three Samadhis, without the need to bless the mala. If the image of the deity and the supporting mandala can be clearly manifested in the mind, then in the last three sessions of the recitation for increasing progress, one can abandon the practices of manifestation and realization, and add the words of the fundamental visualization of the action ritual after the respective generation mantras, without contradiction. In any case, at the end of the night session, one should perform the common and uncommon Torma.

Dedications should be performed. If affluent, perform one regular torma offering of the Phurba self-tradition and one tsok offering. If not affluent, the sessions at the beginning and end of the two days of commencement and conclusion, and the eighth, fifteenth, and thirtieth days of the two fortnights, these four times should not be missed. The tsok tormas can be done by condensing the wheel of the mandala and offering them as the deity of the session intervals, which is not contradictory. If there is the means to perform the regular virtuous deeds without interruption, it is permissible to do them at any convenient session interval. Otherwise, during the session intervals, one should still recite while not separated from the clear appearance of the deity, but it is not counted in the number. During times of excretion, etc., tie knots in the mala, visualize them as the wrathful face, and place them on the seat to protect the seat. Furthermore, it is important to abandon much going and coming and for the warmth of the seat not to be lost. At the end of the evening session, either the entire mandala or, if it has been condensed before, then that deity of the session interval is also dissolved into clear light. In the state of inexpressible, inconceivable dharmata great bliss, lie down in the lion posture. In the morning, aspire to awaken from sleep by the sound of the indestructible mantra. Clearly establish the three, appearance, sound, and awareness, as the wheel of deity, mantra, and clear light, and then arise. During the session intervals, bless the food and drink as nectar and enjoy them with the inner fire offering, etc. By possessing the yoga of sleeping, rising, going, staying, eating, and wearing, make all actions meaningful. As it is said in the Vidyottama: "Food, drink, clothing, ornaments, and so on, going, sleeping, staying, rising, do them continuously." Therefore, furthermore, the precepts of approach are: In the Sadhana of Self-Benefit, it says: "If one moves residence before the approach is completed, the siddhis and blessings will be lost and become meaningless, so do not move residence." And again in the same, in the Vita, it says: "Do not use, do not speak, do not think of others." Therefore, until the signs of the approach have appeared, do not use the deity itself. Do not bless the sick and possessed by means of that deity. If you do, the blessings will be lost and the signs will diminish. Food and clothing are also likely to be accomplished by relying on independent substances. Do not tell others the essence when it is not the time for practice. "Do not think" means that one should not think of any good or bad thoughts, but only focus on the yidam deity with one-pointed mind. Finally, one should abandon being distracted by looking, thinking, writing, etc., and make it as solid as an earth mound.
