There are six types of distinctions: distinctions based on companions, distinctions based on boundaries, and so on. The first is divided into aspiration and engagement. The definition of the first: It is the conventional bodhicitta that is not held by the bodhisattva vows of oneself and one's companions. Example: The bodhicitta that has not obtained the bodhisattva vows, and the bodhicitta of a bodhisattva on the accumulation path who has fallen from the bodhisattva vows due to the root downfall of practicing great misdeeds. The definition of the second: It is the conventional bodhicitta that is held by the companions of the bodhisattva's training. Example: All the bodhicitta of ordinary bodhisattvas who have the bodhisattva vows, and the bodhicitta that is transformed into the nature of the post-meditation of noble bodhisattvas. Moreover, the first cannot go beyond the path of joining, because before that there is no bodhicitta that is not held by the vows. The second does not exist in the state of equipoise of the great vehicle noble ones, because that must be conventional bodhicitta. As it is said in the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life": "From merely generating the aspiration for enlightenment, great fruits arise in samsara, but like the mind of engagement, constant increase of merit does not occur in this way. Since one has taken up the intention to liberate limitless sentient beings, with an irreversible intention, when one truly takes up that mind, even while sleeping or being distracted, the power of merit is constantly inexhaustible, equal to the extent of space, and continues to increase this merit." The second is divided into: coarse conventional bodhicitta arising from names, and subtle ultimate bodhicitta obtained through the nature of reality. The first is divided into definition, example, and classification. The first is: The bodhicitta of a great vehicle student who does not have the wisdom of equipoise that directly realizes the nature of reality in his own mind, but aims at perfect enlightenment for the sake of others. The second is: All the bodhicitta of ordinary great vehicle beings, and the bodhicitta that is transformed into the nature of the post-meditation of noble bodhisattvas. The third is: Obtained from the power of the friend, the virtuous spiritual friend, etc., there are five types. As it is said in the "Ornament of Realization": "The power of friends, the power of causes, the power of roots, the power of hearing, the power of virtuous habits, unstable and stable arising, bodhicitta stabilized by others is taught."

Secondly, there are three parts: definition, classification, and etymology. First, the definition: It is the arising of the mind that realizes the nature of reality directly and becomes the essence of non-conceptualization. Second, the classification: It is divided into three types: the ultimate bodhicitta with the characteristics of effort, without effort, and having abandoned obscurations. Third, the etymology: The Ornament says, "The perfect Buddha is greatly pleased, Accumulating vast merit and wisdom, Because non-conceptual wisdom towards the Dharma, Is born, therefore it is considered supreme." So it is said. Third, there are two parts: general explanation and specific explanation of characteristics. First, the general explanation: The profound view of bodhicitta, which is transmitted from the venerable Manjushri to Nagarjuna and his sons, and recorded in the Compendium of Trainings and the Bodhisattva's Way of Life, is known as the Madhyamaka school of bodhicitta. The vast practice of bodhicitta, which is transmitted from the venerable Maitreya to the brothers Asanga, and recorded in the Bodhisattva Grounds and the Twenty Verses, is known as the Yogacara school of bodhicitta. Second, there are four aspects: the object to be taken, the person who takes it, the ritual of how to take it, and the difference in learning. First, in the Bodhisattva's Way of Life, it says, "The virtuous spiritual friend who is always kind, Is skilled in the meaning of the Great Vehicle, The supreme discipline of a Bodhisattva, Will not be abandoned even for the sake of life." Therefore, it is said that taking refuge in a Khenpo or support who possesses these characteristics can also generate bodhicitta. Second, the bodhicitta of the Madhyamaka school can arise in all beings who are capable of truly generating the mind of seeking enlightenment. However, in the Yogacara school, it is necessary to have one of the seven types of individual liberation vows beforehand. Therefore, bodhicitta cannot truly arise in beings other than men and women of the three continents. Third, there are three parts: preparation, main part, and conclusion. First, the preparation of the Madhyamaka school requires the seven-limb practice with prayer as a preliminary. The Yogacara school says that simple prostration and offering are sufficient. Second, possessing a special mind of seeking enlightenment for the benefit of others, therefore, taking refuge until reaching the essence of enlightenment, etc., and generating bodhicitta by reciting the previous verses three times. According to the Yogacara school, Jamyang Sakya Pandita said, "Therefore, according to the Yogacara view, if you want to generate bodhicitta, first...
