Homage. Therefore, what is relevant here is the intermediate signless wheel of Dharma. As for the time when it was spoken, some scholars, based on the introduction to the Tathāgatagarbha Sūtra, say, "The Blessed One, ten years after attaining complete enlightenment, during the very hot season, on Vulture Peak Mountain in Rājagṛha," believe that the teacher spoke it when he was forty-five years old. Chag Lotsawa, Drukpa Pema Karpo, and others believe that it was spoken when he was fifty-one years old. Furthermore, although there are many accounts, such as it being taught before the Descent from Heaven and miracles, on the day of the Descent from Heaven, the Vinaya states, "At that time, Rāhula was sitting under a tree and saw those things. The gods also abandoned the teacher and went to their own places. These people will also die in a hundred years. The teacher will also pass into Parinirvana, so all these dharmas are impermanent." He contemplated this meaning and explained impermanence. When the Prajñāpāramitā was being taught, the introduction states, "Except for Ānanda, all were Arhats, without afflictions, with exhausted outflows." And in the introduction to the Mañjuśrīmūlatantra, "Śāriputra" and "Mahā-Śāriputra" appear. If there is a difference in size, then if Śāriputra, who is mentioned here, is considered to be among those who requested the Prajñāpāramitā, then it must necessarily be after the Descent from Heaven. Similarly, the introduction to the Tathāgatagarbha Sūtra states, "The venerable Ānanda and other hundreds of thousands of monks were complete." Therefore, Ānanda is in accordance with the Vinaya and Abhisamaya. The youth attained unsurpassed wisdom. Upon hearing this news, on that very day, a boy was born to the famous Dhāraṇī. A boy was also born to Amṛta Food. On that very day, the moon was also seized by Rāhula. And Amṛta Food likewise gave alms and performed virtuous deeds, and then asked what name should be given to the boy. The relatives said that because the whole city rejoiced when this child was born, the boy was named Ānanda. Therefore, the teacher's attainment of complete enlightenment and Ānanda's birth were simultaneous. The Vinaya states that one must be twenty years old to receive full ordination, so it is certain that more than twenty years had passed since the teacher's enlightenment.

From the establishment of necessity, and so on. Regarding the time when the Buddha was fifty-eight years old, it is said to be the Fire Snake year, which is accepted by most scholars, so we will tentatively adopt that here as well. Regarding the place where it was taught, although it is not certain that the Diamond Sutra was taught in Shravasti, it is mainly based on the Vinaya-Flower Garland, which states: Shravasti, as well as Champaka, Varanasi and Vaishali, Rajagriha, and these six places are known as great cities. Among these six great cities, Rajagriha is one of them. Furthermore, the teacher Jñana Mitra said: Rajagriha is on Mount Vulture Peak. This is because the king was famous for the qualities of embodiment and essence, so it was named after the general name of the country's cities. The reason why it is called Vulture Peak is because the area is vast, Vulture Peak is towering, attracting many birds to gather. Therefore, Rajagriha, Vulture Peak, and the Bright Garden are all in the same area. It is said that the shape of the mountain resembles the head of a vulture, hence it is called Vulture Peak. Or, when the teacher went there, the demon transformed into a vulture and stole the Bhagavan's robes, but due to the teacher's power, the robes fell here, turned into stone, formed four layers, and looked like a kasaya, so it was again called Vulture Peak. Combining its inner meaning, the Suvarnaprabhasa Sutra says: Vulture Peak is the Dharmadhatu, profound is the realm of the Buddhas, the Tathagata abides here, pure and without defilements, and expounds this sutra to the supreme Bodhisattvas. In the ultimate sense, Vulture Peak is used to refer to the Dharmadhatu, and it is proclaimed that the Mahayana Dharma lineage is transmitted continuously in this place. Similar to the Hundred Thousand Prajnaparamita Sutra and the Twenty-five Thousand Prajnaparamita Sutra, the sutra only mentions: The Bhagavan was on the mountain of Rajagriha, sitting upright on a lion throne, focusing his mind, and sitting in the lotus position. A detailed description of this mountain can be found in the introduction to the Ratnakuta Sutra, First Assembly, Sutra on the Three Vows: The king of mountains, Mount Vulture Peak, is tall, round, connected to the sky, vast, and full of all kinds of crops.
