Regarding the sixteenth two-fold manner, concerning the method of calculating from 'srang' to 'chu tshod,' no one says that six breaths equal one 'srang.' A stick (dbyug gu) and 'chu tshod' have the same meaning. The reason for naming 'chu tshod,' 'chu srang,' etc., is that it is named 'breath (dbugs)' based on the measurer, such as yogis, because it is measured by relying on internal breath. Based on kings, etc., it is named the stick's 'chu tshod' and 'chu srang,' because it is measured by relying on external measuring tools. Among them, the internal measuring tool is, in the Condensed Tantra, it is said: 'Subtle breaths flow.' In the commentary, it says: One twenty-one thousand six hundredth of a human breath is a subtle breath. Six such breaths are one 'srang' of worms and other animals. Sixty such 'srangs' are one 'chu tshod.' Sixty such 'chu tshods' are one day for worms and other animals. One such day is one human breath. Twenty-one thousand six hundred such breaths are said to be the measure of one human day. As the Root Tantra says: 'Six hundred plus, twenty-one thousand.' And in the Condensed Tantra, it says: 'Six breaths are 'chu srang,'' as mentioned earlier. In the Great Perfection Tantra, the 'Transcending Differentiation Tantra,' it also says: 'The winds that rely on the channels, flow twenty-one thousand six hundred times, are considered the great flowing wind.' And in the 'Compendium of Origins,' it also says: 'Six hundred plus, twenty-one thousand.' Etc., these appear consistently in the tantras and sutras. In the Outer Tantra, 'Melodious Sound Manifestation,' it also says: 'One day for sentient beings,' etc., which is the same as this. Therefore, dividing the number of breaths by six yields 'srang,' sixty 'srangs' is one 'chu tshod,' and sixty 'chu tshods' are counted as one day, which is the practice of yogis who mainly focus on internal wind and mind. The external measuring tool is, in the Vajra Dakini, it says: 'Twelve copper 'srangs,' the container is eight fingers high, and twelve fingers wide, it should be well hammered. Gold is three 'o se' or two 'o se,' what does 'se ba' mean? Actually, from one hundred and fifty 'se bas,' the size of six fingers, make a good funnel.'

After pounding, The hole of that spoon, Is skillfully made in a copper vessel. The water should be without turbidity, The measure should reach sixty "srang". This "srang" is the standard for measuring time, It is spoken for the benefit of people. As it is said, in India, when the king's timekeepers counted time, they would put a golden spoon in a copper vessel like this, tie strings on the four sides of the spoon, and place it on top of a vessel filled with clean water, allowing it to float. When the water rising from the hole fills the vessel, it will sink to the bottom of the water. At that time, strike the drum once. Then, holding it by the string, place the empty vessel on top of a wooden net, and let the water drip out. When the water is gone, strike the drum once again. In this way, counting each filling and emptying of the vessel as one hour. Some say that the "chu srang" is measured by drawing lines inside a basin and using the water level as a standard. In this way, there are two ways of considering sixty units in an hour: the hour of time and the hour of place. The first is what has just been said. The second is as stated in the Root Tantra: "One day's journey of the stars, is likewise sixty hours." That is, the ashes of burnt wheat and sesame are combined, and each of the twenty-seven constellations is considered to occupy sixty hours of the earth's surface, totaling one thousand six hundred and twenty hours, which is called the hour of place. It is so called because it is considered to be the standard for measuring the land or foundation to be enjoyed. Therefore, this is precisely the intention of the Tantra commentary. In short, the hours of time and place, the water "srang", the number of breaths, etc., have the same names but completely different meanings. Although the rotating planet can completely use sixty hours of time, it cannot completely use sixty hours of place in between. The hour of time is measured by instants and so on, while the hour of place is measured by "krosha" and so on. So, how is the hour of place measured by "krosha" and so on? The extent of the spherical orbit that the sun revolves around in one day and night is three hundred thousand
