Then, he sent the translator Rinchen Zangpo and twenty-one other young men to India. After that, Paṇḍita Smṛti and Jowoje Atiśa, Ghaya Dhara, Paṇchen Śākyaśrī, Drokmi Marmel Gok, Ra Nyal Sa Ngok Shong Pang, etc., spread the teachings through translation and explanation, which are known as the Later Dissemination. Now, to briefly recount the history of some of the more famous ones among them, Jowoje came to Tibet in the Water Male Horse year, one hundred and forty years after the Iron Bird year when the teachings were suppressed (referring to the year of Langdarma's suppression of Buddhism). At that time, Je Marpa was thirty-one years old, and Khon Könchok Gyalpo was nine years old. During that period, Züs and Drakpa Ngönshé also served as Khenpos. Drakpa's disciple Tsankhawoché was twenty-three years old, and Züs's great disciples were also present at that time. Jowo mainly taught and propagated the Dharma in Nyetang, Lhasa, Yerpa, and Penyul Lanpa, among other places. In the Wood Male Horse year, on the twentieth day of the middle autumn month, Jowo passed away in Ganden. His disciples were too numerous to count, but roughly from the records heard by ear, there were Lhatsun Jangchub Ö, Khu Wön, Lochhen Rinsang, Dromtönpa, Sharpawa, Potowa, Ngok Lekpai Sherab, Gungtang Gompa Tsultrim, Züs Dorje Gyaltsen, Gö Lotsawa, Sumpa, Nanam, Gya Tsön Seng, Shakya Lodrö, Tsultrim Jungné, Yolmé Wangsum, and so on.

Finally, he attained complete merit and showed the manner of passing into Nirvana in the Wood Sheep year at the age of ninety-eight. Dromtön Gyalwai Jungne Dromtön Gyalwai Jungne's clan was Yangxer, his father was Dasum Shuxer, and his mother was the son of Khutoza Lanchigma, born in Todlungphu in the Wood Snake year. On the way to India, he met Jowo (Atisha) in Kyirong and listened to many teachings. Later, he returned to U-Tsang and built Radreng Monastery. When Jowo Rinpoche passed away, he said to Drom, "I entrust my teachings to you, so uphold them." Drom replied, "I am generally incapable, and especially since I have become a lay devotee, I cannot accomplish great deeds." Jowo said, "I will personally bless you, so do not worry," and then passed away. From then on, he also supported Jowo's disciples, and thus many deeds were accomplished in teaching the disciples. The most excellent were Geshe Potowa, Chennga-wa, and Phuchungwa, who were known as the three brothers. To Potowa, merely teaching the instructions caused them to arise in his mindstream as they were. To Chennga-wa, he said, "You should meditate well on emptiness alone." He also gave him many of Jowo's instructions, hence the name Chennga-wa. To Phuchungwa, he taught the Dharma starting from the Four Noble Truths and had everyone settle into meditative equipoise. He thought that all of the Buddha's teachings had to be taken onto the path of one person's enlightenment, so he practiced accordingly, and from them the name Kadampa arose. Then, when Dromtön was about to pass into Nirvana, he said to Potowa, "I do not see another refuge for you all, so consult with Teacher Dodé," and so on, giving his last instructions, and then passed into Nirvana in the Wood Dragon year at the age of sixty. After that, Phuchungwa said, "Eat your own flesh," and thus did not maintain a sangha. Potowa, after Drom's passing, practiced diligently until he was fifty years old. From the age of fifty-one, he engaged in benefiting others, staying in places like Khen Drak, Drolak Monastery, Thartok, and Taklung, without a fixed abode. The sangha also constantly followed him, gathering more than a thousand people each time. Even if others caused harm, he generally admitted to being a monk, and especially admitted to being a Bodhisattva.
