To cling to selfish thoughts is to have inverted clinging. Not rejoicing in the virtuous deeds done by beings from the Buddha to sentient beings and the happiness that accompanies them, but instead rejoicing and being happy when enemies encounter misfortune and unbearable things, is inverted rejoicing. One should engage in taking and abandoning these six inverted and non-inverted states. Do not alternate, meaning, sometimes practice meditation, sometimes recite mantras, or alternate between the two, sometimes guarding, sometimes abandoning. Avoid alternating, as this increases worldly affairs, sins, and afflictions in this life. Alternating between practicing Dharma for the sake of the next life should also be avoided. Do not alternate, but practice Dharma consistently in one direction, especially practicing meditation. The essence of that is practicing meditation. 'Practice like cutting off small branches,' meaning, just as one would thoroughly cut off small branches, when practicing meditation, do not hesitate, but wholeheartedly transform the mind, resolutely deciding to practice. Do not think about practicing meditation first to see if it is beneficial, and if it is not, then recite mantras. Avoid such indecisive thoughts, as this still has not escaped the desire for happiness, so it will not be able to eliminate diseases and demons. 'Liberate through observation and analysis,' meaning, observe which affliction is heaviest in your own mind, and then especially rely on the antidote, striving to eliminate it. Then, observe the object and basis from which afflictions arise, and even if you do not engage in inappropriate attention, observe how it arises. Or, relying on the antidote, merely think that the affliction has lessened or no longer arises. Now, repeatedly habituate yourself to the future, thinking about not letting afflictions stain the mind. For both the past and the future, diligently use antidotes to eliminate afflictions. 'Do not boast,' meaning, do not be arrogant and boastful towards others because you have been kind to them, or because you have virtuous deeds, are wise, are a monk, are a great person, or have a noble lineage. 'Do not expect too much from people, pray to the gods,' this is the teaching of Ra Trengba. Generally, if an enemy has been caught, one thinks that others will also be caught, so even if one does altruistic deeds, selfish thoughts will not arise, because one has already considered it one's duty, so one will not boast. When one reaches this level, the mind is mature. 'Do not conceal faults.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, for oneself, any actions such as being scolded and verbally abused should be considered one's own fault. Do not change your expression towards others, nor respond with harsh words. Do not hold grudges in your heart. Now, our Dharma has not become an antidote to the ego, so the power of patience is small. The mind is full of resentment, yet one considers oneself a practitioner; such practice is meaningless, so the Dharma should be used as an antidote to the ego. Do not be fickle, that is, do not be moody and change your expression easily. Such a person will be disliked by friends, so avoid it. Do not crave rewards, that is, for the help and kindness given by others, do not just thank them with words, nor seek fame and praise because of it. In short, for the help and kindness given by others, do not crave even sweet words. Like this, throughout one's life, by practicing these two aspects of Bodhicitta, cultivating through the method of exchanging self and others, there will be no disputes, no need to fight with gods, demons, and humans. By pacifying the gods, calming the nagas, and making everything peaceful, at the time of death, open the door to happiness, turn away from the direction of suffering, go from light to light, from bliss to bliss. The following describes the merits or benefits of these Dharmas: Turning the five degenerations into the path to enlightenment. In general, the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha appeared during the time of the five degenerations. Especially now, being in the even more degenerate final age of the five degenerations, all beings think only of afflictions, and do only evil deeds and sins. Everyone likes to do evil, and whoever is kind feels like a thorn in their side, so the three doors of body, speech, and mind are all creating evil deeds that harm others. Furthermore, the Dharma protectors who like purity have all gone to pure lands, while the evil spirits who like darkness have great power and bring many inauspicious things to beings. Therefore, beings today face all kinds of suffering, especially for those who practice the Dharma, they encounter all kinds of obstacles. Therefore, in this age of converging evil conditions, if one does not practice such Dharma, no matter which Dharma door one enters, it is difficult to achieve success. If one enters this Dharma door and strives to practice, one can transform all evil conditions into the path to enlightenment. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
