When praying to the Dakinis and Dharma protectors, the red storm naturally subsided. However, not even a single favorable wind arose, and because of the merit of sentient beings, I remained for half a month. Likewise, by cultivating loving-kindness, compassion, and the mind of enlightenment, and proceeding with favorable winds, after two months and twenty-six days, I reached the other side of the ocean. The description of how hardships were endured in order to find a Lama, and the story of subduing the great Ishvara (Lha Wangchuk Chenpo) in the ocean, is complete. How wonderful! Jowo (尊者) arrived in Serling (金洲). An account of joyfully meeting the Protector of Beings, the Incomparable Great Serlingpa Master Chokyi Drakpa (法称). Homage to the Venerable Maitreya (Jampa) and Avalokiteśvara (Chenrezig Wangchuk). Then, just having crossed the great ocean, to the west of the forests of Serling, to the south of the lotus (Padma) of Dewachen (极乐世界), to the north of the terrifying charnel ground (Ngrams Shing Dumbu), to the east of the crocodile (Chu Srin Ke Ke Ru), near the golden stupa (Deshek Sergyi Chorten) built by the Tibetan king (Bodkyi Gyalpo), where there were six Geshe (格西) Samtenpas (三丹巴), disciples of the Serlingpa Lama, I stayed for fourteen days to investigate the biographies of the Serlingpa Lama. In order to understand the order of the Lama's practice, to trace the pure source of the lineage, how many scriptures were mastered, how much sutra, reasoning, and key instructions were possessed, whether the mind was matured, the level of realization, and how many qualities were possessed. I asked all the Samtenpas about everything, and the Samtenpas also truthfully recounted the Lama's biography without adding or subtracting, which made me very happy. The Samtenpas also asked the Pandita (班智达) Sa'i Nyingpo (地的精华) and others about the Lama's biography, and they also told of the way of abandoning the kingdom to practice liberation, the way of relying on countless Lamas, the way of owning countless monasteries, and the way of possessing vast qualities. All the Samtenpas said: 'Then this great Pandita, isn't he the one called the Indian (Gyagar) Khenpo (堪布) Dipamkara Shrijnana (燃灯智)?' Sa'i Nyingpo said: 'He is known throughout the world as the second Buddha. Fifty-two great Panditas surround him. The Great Vehicle and the Small Vehicle praise him. He is known as the great Indian Khenpo.' All the Samtenpas said: 'Lord of the Land, please be seated.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to this place! Although I have heard of it for a long time, seeing it in person is even more admirable. Today, we are fortunate to have such merit, with the great scholar arriving by boat. Were there no disturbances from demons along the way? Were there no obstacles from the fish-belly storms? Did the long-term harassment not make you feel dangerous? The Earth-Essence replied: 'It has been thirteen months since embarking on the boat. The great Maheśvara stirred up the fish-belly storms.' 'In an instant, with loving-kindness and compassion, the demons were subdued, and fearless good fortune was obtained.' After returning to the boat again, the venerable one had attained the treasury of space (Akasha-garbha), and one hundred and twenty-five people were exhausted. Pacify the discordant voices with words of truth. After the Earth-Essence spoke these words, the meditators rejoiced and gathered around me, respectfully saying: 'Your fame has spread far and wide, and a joyful heart arises spontaneously. Seeing you in person makes one yearn even more. Now that the great scholar has arrived here, he has dispelled the darkness of ignorance.' 'Now, with body, speech, and mind, we prostrate to you with utmost respect.' They prostrated to me, and I humbly returned the prostration. The meditators then said: 'Holy one, what is the purpose of your arrival in this land? Please tell us.' 'We will respectfully serve you. Please tell us your needs.' I replied: 'I have come from the master of Gold Island (Suvarṇadvīpa), to extract the essence from this leisure and opportunity-endowed human body.' 'Please go quickly to the master and report, requesting permission for me to meet him.' After that, the meditators went to the master of Gold Island and reported: 'Venerable master, please listen. Now there is a Khenpo from India named Dīpaṃkaraśrījñāna, who, together with a group of one hundred and twenty-five disciples, has traveled across the great ocean for thirteen months, subduing demons and the heretical Maheśvara, guarding them with loving-kindness and compassion, without losing the radiance of body, speech, and mind, and has arrived at the place where we are.' 'For fourteen days, he discussed the Dharma with us, satisfying our minds. Now, for an important purpose, this great scholar wants to meet you, to hear the teachings that give rise to all Buddhas of the past, present, and future, to generate the supreme mind of aspiration and entry into Bodhicitta, and to practice the great mind-training methods.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
