It is called. The Tathagata family is the Padma family, the Vajra family, the Jewel family, the increasing or five-crowned (family), and the worldly family. The former three have the distinctions of the head of the family, the lord of the family, the mother of the family, the wrathful male and female deities of the family, the messengers of the family, and the male and female attendants. Secondly, the practice tantra is known as three families: the body, speech, and mind families. Among them, the speech family tantra has not been translated into Tibetan. Thirdly, the yoga tantra has five families in terms of what is to be said. Each of these is divided into five small families, making twenty-five. Each of these is divided into four: essence, mudra, secret mantra, and family mantra, making a hundred mudras. In terms of the words that can be said, there are four or five: the root tantra, the explanatory tantra, the branch tantra, and the similar tantra, which are known as the four yoga tantras, and the remaining tantras. However, the remaining tantras are considered by Dolgon Zhab and the followers of Tenpai Nyinje to be the connection between the practice tantra and the yoga tantra, and are not considered to be true yoga tantras. The distinctions of the Anuttara tantra need not be mentioned here. Fourth, there are three: Kriya, Charya, and Yoga. Firstly, the beginning of each Kriya tantra, becoming the chief of the Gone-to-Bliss family, the chief of the seven Buddha heroes, in the center is Shakyamuni Buddha, making the gesture of teaching the Dharma on a jewel throne and a lotus-moon seat, leaning his back against the Ashvattha tree. In the east is Vipashyin Buddha, touching the earth in meditative equipoise, the sorrowless tree. In the northeast is Sikhin Buddha, bestowing supreme generosity in meditative equipoise, the white lotus tree. In the southeast is Vishvabhu Buddha, bestowing protection and refuge in meditative equipoise, the sala tree. In the west is Krakucchanda Buddha, the gesture of meditative absorption, the Shirisha tree. In the southwest is Kanakamuni Buddha, holding the Dharma in meditative equipoise, the Udumbara tree. In the northwest is Kashyapa Buddha, the right hand bestowing supreme generosity and the left hand holding the corner of the Dharma robe, like the ear of a deer, sitting under the Nyagrodha tree. All are golden in color, wearing the three Dharma robes, adorned with marks and signs, emitting infinite rays of light, sitting in vajra posture on a jewel throne and a lotus moon. In the south is the great wrathful one, blue in color.
