It is said that the merit obtained by these two sentient beings should be understood as incomparable. Furthermore, in the Sutra of the Heap of Jewels, it is said that if all the sentient beings of the three thousand great thousand worlds were to become universal monarchs, and each of them were to offer lamps to the stupa of the Tathagata, using the oil of the ocean and the trees of Mount Meru as wicks, it would not be as great as if a monastic with vows, who has gone forth from home, were to offer a wick of lamp smeared with mustard seed-sized oil. Also, if each of those universal monarchs were to fill the entire Jambudvipa with flowers and offer them, it would not be as great as if a monastic were to offer a single flower, for the merit of the latter is a hundred times greater than the former, a thousand times greater, and even approaching it is unbearable. Moreover, it is even more beneficial if it is seized by the mind of enlightenment and seized by non-objectification, for the benefit is greater and greater. In the Garland of Flowers Sutra, it says, "If someone were to honor the Tathagata for a full thousand years with all the means of happiness, it would not be as great as if, seized by the mind of enlightenment, one were to offer a flower, incense, or a single lamp at the stupa after the Nirvana of the Tathagata, or merely scatter a handful of water, and then say, 'I prostrate to the Tathagata!'" In this way, even after hundreds of thousands of millions of kalpas, there will be no place to fall back into the lower realms. Also, in the Sutra of the Heap of Jewels, it says that each of the sentient beings of the three realms were to build a stupa as large as Mount Meru, and each were to attend to it for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges, it would not be as great as scattering a single flower with a mind inseparable from the mind of omniscience, for the latter would generate much more merit than the former. In the Maitreya Entering Sutra, similar words are also spoken. Therefore, from the sutras and treatises, the principles of taking and abandoning cause and effect are extensively taught, and for those who are able to hear and strive, there is no need to repeat them. But for the sake of making it easy for those of lower intelligence to understand, and as it says in the Lotus of Compassion Sutra, "O Kungawo, this unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, which has been accomplished for countless incalculable hundreds of thousands of millions of kalpas, will be destroyed by three things. What are the three? Lack of faith, lack of practice, and lack of teaching." Furthermore, in other sutras it is also said that when the teachings are declining, even teaching a single verse,

Also, it is said to be for the sake of doing deeds for the Dharma. In the Sutra of the Complete Holding of Virtues, it says: When the teachings are utterly destroyed, and when there is discomfort and anxiety towards the Dharma, one should respectfully protect the Dharma, even abandoning body and speech. Those who uphold the Dharma in this way, those who protect it, will be protected by the gods. The Buddhas will bless them. Therefore, they will be constantly protected, and they will turn the wheel of Dharma. The benefits are vast. Also, the Sutra says: Compared to committing the five heinous crimes, it is a heavier sin to ignorantly and wrongly explain the profound Dharma with an ignorant mind. Therefore, if those who are not proficient in the Dharma explain it, the harm outweighs the benefit. In order to benefit them, and to uphold and propagate the sacred Dharma, one should strive to learn oneself and also encourage others to learn. To establish householders in faith, therefore, this explanation also becomes meaningful. In the Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra, it says: A Bodhisattva who is completely embraced by a virtuous friend will manifest and attain the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Therefore, the activities of a virtuous friend can also be accomplished by this. So, those who know how to explain should explain, and those who know how to contemplate should contemplate. This is very important. What is not prescribed should not be prescribed, and what is prescribed should not be abolished. As it is specially praised, if one diligently studies these precepts prescribed by the Victorious One himself, it will not be the same as mere outward Dharma practice. As it is said in the sacred texts, if one gathers a few essential points that do not contradict the meaning and speaks of them, it will not corrupt the end of the Sutras, and it is permitted. Therefore, the main emphasis is on ease of understanding and brevity of words, and the quotations from the scriptures are also shortened, while the essential points of the meaning are complete. With pure and truthful words, like gold from the Jambu River, based on faith, shining like a thousand spokes of the Sutras and Tantras. May this Dharma wheel, which is meaningful to see, be given as a gift to reverse the wheel of existence. May the virtue that arises from this cause all beings pervading the sky, with supreme intention, skillful means, power, aspirations, and samadhi, etc., be inseparable from the realm of liberation, the Lord of the World, and shake samsara from its very foundation. Therefore, one should wholeheartedly devote oneself to this profound Dharma.
