Through combining the teachings on the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment and the impermanence of death with the mind and practicing them, one should know that happiness or suffering in this life is only temporary, and one should know that the next life is extremely long. Therefore, one should abandon what is harmful to the next life and accomplish what is beneficial to the next life, and generate a pure thought. If such a thought is not generated, then no matter how profound the Dharma is practiced, it is only for this life. Second, through combining the teachings on karma and the faults of samsara with the mind and meditating on them, one should see all of samsara from the peak of existence down as a pit of fire, and thereby generate a pure mind that seeks liberation. If such a mind is not generated, then no matter how profound the Dharma is practiced, it will not become a path to liberation. Third, through combining the teachings on loving-kindness and compassion with the mind, one must abandon the mind that seeks peace and happiness for oneself alone. If such a mind is not abandoned, then no matter how profound the Dharma is practiced, it will become a Hinayana path. Fourth, one should remember the kindness of all sentient beings, and due to the inability to bear the suffering of sentient beings, one should generate a pure mind that desires to attain perfect enlightenment for the benefit of sentient beings. If such a mind is not generated, then no matter how profound the Dharma is practiced, it will not enter the Mahayana path. Second, the uncommon preliminaries are three: The teachings on Vajrasattva for purifying obstacles and sins as a branch; the teachings on the mandala for accumulating favorable conditions and merit; and the teachings on guru yoga for the inseparability of accumulation and purification. First, through properly practicing the meditation and recitation of the Hundred Syllable Mantra, one must purify the gross manifest obstacles and sins. Because the teachings of the main practice will not arise in the mindstream obscured by powerful sins. Second, through practicing the yoga of the mandala and so on, one must accumulate a vast amount of merit. Because the teachings of the main practice will not arise in the mindstream where merit has not been accumulated. Third, through properly practicing guru yoga, one must generate uncommon devotion. Because the teachings of the main practice will not arise in the mindstream that has not been moistened by devotion. Therefore, when practicing these,

Firstly, sit in the vajra posture on a comfortable seat. Straighten each part of the body. Exhale the nine rounds of breath. Settle the awareness. Then, visualize the refuge field and take refuge. Generate bodhicitta. Precede with the practice of the four immeasurables. On your own crown, visualize Vajrasattva father and mother, blessed by the three objects of refuge. Visualize the mantra garland at the heart of both. Recite the hundred-syllable mantra with the key points of the four powers. Finally, after the confession and restraint, dissolve Vajrasattva into yourself. Secondly, in the sky in front, at the center of a wish-fulfilling tree, on a lion throne, lotus, sun and moon, and vajra seat, visualize Lama Jampal Dorje with three faces of yellow, blue, and white, and six arms. The first two arms embrace a consort similar to himself. The remaining two right arms hold a sword and an arrow. The two left arms hold a blue utpala flower and a bow. He sits in the vajra and lotus posture, adorned with silk and jewel ornaments. At the four places are marked with white Om (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओ,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡), red Ah (藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:आ,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:阿), blue Hum (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हूँ,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), and green Hoh (藏文:ཧོ,梵文天城体:हो,梵文罗马拟音:hoḥ,汉语字面意思:霍), visualize as the embodiment of all refuge places. Precede with the offering of the five desirable qualities. Offer the seven-part mandala to the general deity. After taking the common vows such as refuge in the Three Jewels, dissolve into yourself. Thirdly, clearly visualize the yoga of Lama Jampal Dorje as before, and offer offerings and mandalas before him. Take the common vows, and the special vows related to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Pray to the root and lineage lamas with strong devotion and longing. After receiving the four empowerments, dissolve the Lama father and mother into yourself. Mix your own mind with the Lama's mind as one taste, and rest in the state of profound, clear, and undifferentiated Mahamudra. Secondly, the main practice yoga has three parts: searching for the flaws of illusion and meditating on the appearance of non-samsara; how to practice the clear view; and how to practice the profound view. Firstly, there are two parts: preliminary and main practice. Firstly, for beginners, it is very important to establish the body posture, because in this way one can practice with a meditative mind. The mind relies on the prana, and the prana relies on the body. If the body does not remain stable, the mind will not remain stable. Therefore, place the legs in the vajra posture, and the hands in the meditative mudra.
