As it says, "The sky," etc., among the six similes, the first is: Just as clouds suddenly arise from the empty sky, so too, conceptual thoughts suddenly arise from the emptiness of dharmata. The second is: Just as waves arise from the ocean and then dissolve back into the ocean, so too, whatever appearance of arising occurs in the unborn dissolves back into it. The third is: Just as honey can be extracted from a flower, so too, bliss and emptiness can be extracted from the body. The fourth is: Just as camphor and its scent are inseparable, so too, appearance and emptiness are inseparable. The fifth is: Just as images appear in a clear mirror, so too, various aspects of awareness manifest in pristine awareness. The sixth is: Just as a white crystal is not changed by other colors, so too, the unadulterated is not changed by the power of conditions. That is what it says. The second is as it says, "Beings," etc. All the happiness and suffering of beings in higher realms and lower realms arise from karma. White and black karma arise from afflictions. Their cause is the characteristics of improper attention, etc. If the nature of these characteristics is known, then it is without characteristics. Therefore, I realized that the characteristics are liberated in their own place. That is what it says. The third is: The cause of realization is the characteristics of improper attention, etc. If the nature of these characteristics is known, then it is without characteristics. Therefore, I realized that the characteristics are liberated in their own place. That is what it says. The third is: As it says, "The elephant of realization," etc., the four distinctions of means easily generate the experience of having means. Subduing the one who conceptualizes, who is scattered on various objects, by knowing its own nature, is like subduing an elephant with an iron hook. Making the bliss of one's own body and the bodies of others the basis of experience is like bees gathering on the nectar of flowers. Being affectionate in the state of great bliss, the luminosity of samadhi, is like the affection of parents. Eliminating obstacles through supplication and opening the lotus of realization is like the sun's rays opening the lotus that grows in the mud. I realized the instructions for leading those with means onto the path through means. That is what it says. The fourth is: As it says, "Mind," etc., thus, the four special means, the benefit of the steps of experience of having means, manifestly arise. Through the means of subduing an elephant with an iron hook, the self-illuminating awareness

The lamp dispels the darkness of the mind. Like a bee collecting honey, with skillful means, the bee of thought sucks the honey of bliss. Like a swan playing in a lake, with skillful means, the waves of attachment dissolve into the ocean. Like a lotus blooming in the sunlight, with skillful means, the clouds of joy and sorrow clear in the sky free from elaboration. This is the fifth. What is meant by "three letters" and so on, refers to the three letters A, Sa, and Ka. A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A) means "Amani," which is to be free from the mind that cognizes. Pa (Tibetan: པ, Sanskrit Devanagari: प, Sanskrit Romanization: pa, Literal Chinese meaning: Pa) means "Paramartha," which is the ultimate truth of emptiness where the object to be cognized is not established. Ka (Tibetan: ཀ, Sanskrit Devanagari: क, Sanskrit Romanization: ka, Literal Chinese meaning: Ka) means "Karja," which is that the mind that cognizes, through the object to be cognized, realizes the fruit of accomplishment, and the characteristics are liberated in their own place. Thus, by showing the absence of letters through the three letters, I realize that the king of letters is the absence of letters. This is the sixth. What is meant by "where" and so on, is that just as a person who has not died in a dream has nowhere to go, all conceptual thoughts have nowhere to go from this place and time to another place and time. Just as parents in a dream have no place to dwell, conceptual thoughts also have no place to dwell in the outer, inner, or intermediate realms. Since the place where they dwell is the Dharmadhatu, just as the sky has no obstruction, conceptual thoughts have no obstruction. Thus, I realize the meaning of the three aspects of going, dwelling, and non-obstruction. This is the seventh. What is meant by "always" and so on, is that ignorance is completely purified by ignorance, and therefore it is a great treasure without obscuration. The function of ignorance is not knowing, which is obscuration. Like the darkness of a dream, at the time of obscuration, there is no obscurer. Anger is completely purified by anger, and therefore it is a great treasure without disturbance. The function of anger is the complete disturbance of the mind, but like the disturbance of a magical flame, at the time of disturbance, there is no disturber. Attachment or desire is completely purified by attachment, and therefore it is a great treasure without clinging or entanglement. The function of desire is clinging and entanglement, but like a snake knot unraveling on its own, at the time of entanglement, there is no entangler. The purification of the three poisons is the treasure of peace and Nirvana. This is only present in one's own nature and not elsewhere. Know this. This is the eighth.
