Lewa, because it is not stained by the grasping of dualistic thoughts, it is naked. Because it knows its own face, it is bright and clear. Because the clinging to objects and subjects dissolves, appearance and mind are inseparable, thoroughly open and clear. Wisdom rests in its own nature without artifice, so it is ordinary awareness. Conceptual thoughts flow into the heart like a stream, this is called "Soma," which is the essence of vipashyana, the actual basis to be practiced. This is the essence of the Holy Mother. "Holy" means transcending the cycle of ignorance and grasping. "Mother" means knowing one's own face through the self-arising power of wisdom. "Tara" means that the unceasing power of great compassion effortlessly accomplishes the benefit of sentient beings. "Mother" means having the essence of emptiness and compassion, the meaning of spontaneously accomplishing the two benefits. Therefore, one should realize that the nature of mind is the Holy Mother Tara, and should introduce it as such. Third, one should practice the ultimate union of shamatha and vipashyana, that is, the nature of mind is free from the three stages of arising, abiding, and ceasing, and because it is without cessation, it is free from the extreme of annihilation. Because it abides in its own nature of emptiness, it is free from the extreme of permanence. Because it appears in various ways, it is free from the extreme of annihilation. The nature of mind is not established as color or shape, so it is free from the extreme of permanence. The nature of mind is emptiness, selflessness, and beyond thought, so it is free from the extreme of permanence. The self-arising power manifests in various ways, so it is free from the extreme of annihilation. Therefore, because it transcends the extremes of permanence and annihilation, and clinging to characteristics, the three aspects of clarity, awareness, and emptiness are inseparable. The way to practice union is: the mind rests on the illusory accumulation of skillful means and merit, and knowing and seeing that these are without self-nature and empty, this is vipashyana. The mind rests on devotion to the guru yoga, this is shamatha, and seeing the nature of that mind as emptiness, beyond thought, this is vipashyana. The mind rests on the generation stage, like a reflection of the moon in water, this is shamatha, and seeing that its own nature is emptiness, this is vipashyana. The mind rests on appearance as the self-manifestation of mind, like a reflection of the moon in water, and seeing that dependent arising is unborn, and appearance and emptiness are inseparable, this is vipashyana. The mind rests on the ultimate great bliss of the path, this is shamatha, and seeing that it is without attachment and empty, this is vipashyana. The mind rests on the self-luminous nature of mind, this is shamatha, and the essence

Seeing the absence of elaboration as emptiness is superior seeing. Abiding the mind in pristine awareness free from fabrication and adulteration is peaceful abiding. Seeing selflessness and non-arising is superior seeing. In short, there is no emptiness other than what appears like a moon in water, a reflection in a mirror, or an echo in a valley. There is no appearance other than emptiness. Realizing appearance and emptiness as unborn, like a rainbow appearing in the sky, and abiding in its essence, is called the union of stillness and insight. This is the completion stage's union of stillness and insight. Third, holding the clear light is to visualize oneself clearly as Tara, and at her heart, from a green or white wheel like the color of mercury, rays of light emanate. Filling the inside of the body. Radiating outwards, illuminating all outside the body with light surpassing a thousand suns. Then, filling with light for a distance of one yojana. Then, like Jambudvipa. Then, the four continents. Then, filling all the realms of the three thousand great thousand world systems with rays of light. Touching all sentient beings, making them the nature of light. Filling all places and things with rays of light. Meditating on being brighter than the light of a hundred thousand suns. Then, the mind is naturally clear light. In a state of no object of focus. In a state of unawareness, free from all elaborations, remaining in equanimity and meditating on clear light. At night, also remaining in equanimity in the same way, sleep will arise as clear light. This is the sequence of meditating on clear light. Fourth, transference of consciousness has two aspects: purification and application to practice. First, on the crown of one's own body, visualized as empty, on top of a blooming lotus. Visualize a green Tāṃ (ཏཱཾ་, seed syllable) on top of a moon disc. Visualize the Brahma aperture at the crown of one's head as clear, and meditate on a Haṃ (ཧཾ་, seed syllable). In the sky about a cubit above it, on top of a jeweled throne. On top of a blooming lotus, clearly visualize the Holy Mother Tara, from whose mouth. Om, Tare, Tam, Svaha). Therefore, from the Tāṃ (ཏཱཾ་, seed syllable) at one's heart, a green bindu separates and rises up from the Brahma aperture at the crown of the head. Touching the heart of Tara at the crown of the head once. Descending again. Meditate on it dissolving into the Tāṃ (ཏཱཾ་, seed syllable) at the heart, and again a green bindu separates from the Tāṃ (ཏཱཾ་, seed syllable), dissolving with light into the heart of the Holy Mother.
