The Sixteenth Volume of the Instructions Treasury: The Guidance on the Activity of Tara Saving from the Eight Fears, Liberation from the Perilous Pass of Samsara. The Sixteenth Volume of the Instructions Treasury The Guidance on the Activity of Tara Saving from the Eight Fears, Liberation from the Perilous Pass of Samsara. The Guidance on the Activity of Tara Saving from the Eight Fears, Liberation from the Perilous Pass of Samsara. Herein. In the vast ocean of the two accumulations, the self-arisen wisdom manifests as a lotus, possessing the fragrance of impartial compassion. May the Bhagavan Tara protect all beings. Upon the lotus diadem of her two feet, Brahma, Indra, the powerful, and the four world-protectors, and the proud beings of the world, respectfully bow with their crowns. To the feet of the noble Tara, I prostrate with my head. The Bhagavan Tara, to Mitra Dzoki, spoke of the stages of mantra practice. This great treasure of nectar, transmitted from ear to ear, is written down to alleviate the suffering of beings. Here, the teaching called "The Guidance on the Activity of Tara Saving from the Eight Fears, Liberation from the Perilous Pass of Samsara" is presented in three parts: preliminaries, main practice, and conclusion. The first has two parts: common and uncommon. The first has four parts: the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, impermanence of death, the law of karma, and contemplating the faults of samsara. These are in accordance with the common practices. The second has four parts: the guidance on taking refuge and generating bodhicitta, which transforms everything done into the path to enlightenment; the guidance on the Vajrasattva practice, which purifies sins and obscurations; the guidance on the mandala offering, which perfects the two accumulations; and the guidance on the profound guru yoga, which swiftly brings blessings. These four are in accordance with the common practices. These are the stages of the preliminaries. The second, the main practice, has two parts: the generation stage and the completion stage. The first has three parts: first, the guidance on the generation stage of the body. Preceded by the four immeasurables. སྭབྷཱ་ཝས་སྟོང་པར་སྦྱང༌། (Tibetan, स्वभावशून्यता, svabhāvaśūnyatā, purification of emptiness of inherent existence). From the state of emptiness, all ground transforms into the Tala or the realm adorned with green leaves. In the center of that, in the midst of a blue and clear lake, lotuses bloom beautifully, In the center of that, from པཾ (Tibetan, bam, pam, lotus) arises a lotus. The stem is made of gold, and the stamens and petals are moved by the wind. Upon that

Then, from the center where the sound of the Dharma arises, on the moon disc above the letter Ah. From Tam (ཏཱཾ,tāṃ) arises a green lotus, marked with the letter Tam (ཏཱཾ,tāṃ). From there, rays of light radiate in the ten directions. Offering to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Purifying the obscurations of all sentient beings. Establishing them in the state of Tara. After gathering back and completely merging, one becomes the Noble Tara, with a green-blue body. One face and two arms. The right leg extended, the left leg bent. Wearing a silk skirt. The right hand holding a lotus in the gesture of bestowing blessings. The left hand holding a lotus that blooms near the ear, with the thumb and forefinger holding the stem of the lotus at the heart. The breasts are full. The eyes and eyebrows are long. The hair is tied in a topknot on the crown of the head, with the ends swaying at the waist, possessing an elegant posture. Peaceful, charming. Young and youthful, like a sixteen-year-old girl. Adorned with five kinds of precious jewels as hair ornaments and earrings. Necklaces and armlets. Bracelets and anklets. Belts and sashes. Adorned with silk headbands and strings of pearls. With a moon backdrop, appearing but without inherent existence. Meditating as if it were a reflection in a mirror, with a white Om (ཨོཾ,oṃ,oṃ,perfection) at the crown of the head, a red Ah (ཨཱཿ,āḥ,āḥ,arising) at the throat, and a blue Hum (ཧཱུྃ,hūṃ,hūṃ,subduing) at the heart. From the Hum (ཧཱུྃ,hūṃ,hūṃ,subduing) radiate rays of light like iron hooks. Inviting the wisdom being identical to oneself from Potala or the Emerald Adorned Pure Land. Becoming inseparable from oneself. Again, radiating light. Inviting the Five Families of Buddhas. Bestowing empowerment. Purifying obscurations. Because the remaining nectar flows upwards, Akshobhya Buddha adorns the crown of the head. On the lotus at the heart, in the center of the moon disc, from the green letter Tam (ཏཱཾ,tāṃ) arises a garland of mantras like the color of butter lamps, and radiates light. Radiating to purify the five poisons within the body. Transforming the appearance into a palace of light. Touching sentient beings. Establishing them in the state of Tara. Gathering back, focusing on circumambulating to the right. Contemplating that the sound of the mantra emanates from the mouths of all beings. Reciting: Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha (ཨོཾ་ཏཱ་རེ་ཏུཏྟཱ་རེ་ཏུ་རེ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ།,oṃ tāre tuttāre ture svāhā,oṃ tāre tuttāre ture svāhā,Om, Tare, Tuttare, Ture, Svaha). Finally, dissolving the appearance into light, merging into the inner essence. The inner essence dissolving into light, merging into oneself. One's own body dissolving into light, merging into the letter Tam (ཏཱཾ,tāṃ) at the heart. The letter Tam (ཏཱཾ,tāṃ) merging into Nada. Then, like a rainbow disappearing into the sky, abiding in a state of non-objectification and non-fabrication. This is the generation stage. Second.
