Among the three secret practices of decisiveness, the first is: Go to any place that is dangerous and turbulent, or empty, debt-ridden, with few travelers, or where non-humans and fierce beasts roam, where there is a need to be eaten, a fear of being robbed, a worry of being killed. Having arrived there, say, "I don't need anything at all," and contemplate in your mind, thereby covering all paths of hope. Say, "Whatever comes, let it come, I will go no matter what," and contemplate, thereby transforming the cliff of worry into food. In short, cast happiness behind and embrace suffering, symbolizing treading upon and abandoning what one cannot bear to do. All that others deem undesirable and to be abandoned, here one makes into something to be accomplished. This is called the meditation of inverting the essence. This method should be done when the body and mind feel hungry. Before that time, it is crucial not to be carried away by the thief of hope. The second is: There, when illusions of gods and demons arise, or elsewhere, since all sentient beings are parents, one develops attachment and clinging to them, and harbors grudges and animosity. Thinking that now, to repay them, I will offer my body, then summon all the gods and demons of existence before you, and say: The twelve parts of the body, thirteen including the head, the five senses, the five vital organs, the six hollow organs, flesh and bones, legs and fat, brain and cerebellum, fat and blood, hair and nails, skin and dirt, breath and life force, radiance and luster, etc., take now whatever each of you desires in your hearts. Abandoning the cherishing of the body, imagine that they swarm in and devour it ravenously, feeling satisfied. Relying on this offering of flesh and blood, from now on, may all the gods and demons gathered here pacify their thoughts of hatred and cruelty, turn away from harming and oppressing sentient beings, be filled with immaculate great compassion, abide in the Bodhicitta of benefiting beings, and thereby enter into the omniscient wisdom. Say this. Thus, the body has been given to the gods and demons. As for the emptiness of the mind, even if all beings from the Brahma world downwards rise up as enemies, know that they cannot obstruct it. All external illusions and demonic obstacles are due to illness and conceptual thoughts.

Because it arises from conditions, cut off the flow of internal and external thoughts, and let the mind rest in an unmodified state. Third, for all the thoughts that suddenly arise from grasping or clinging, recognize them in the first instant. Then, utter a forceful "PHAṬ (藏文, Devanagari: फट्, Romanized Sanskrit: phaṭ, Literal Chinese meaning: snap)" and dissolve it into the state of reality. If you know that it is not staying there but is chasing after external objects, say "PHAṬ (藏文, Devanagari: फट्, Romanized Sanskrit: phaṭ, Literal Chinese meaning: snap)" and gather the scattered thoughts. When you forget the object of focus, saying "PHAṬ (藏文, Devanagari: फट्, Romanized Sanskrit: phaṭ, Literal Chinese meaning: snap)" clears away dullness. In this way, the mind will not wander. Fifth, purifying the pure land: Whatever appears is a variety of images, all forms of the Guru's body. Therefore, when you meet them, with devotion, mix your heart and mind with the Guru's mind and rest in equanimity. Thus, appearance and emptiness arise as inseparable, which is called the Samadhi of Vajra Body. Whatever is heard is the indestructible sound image, all forms of the Guru's speech. Therefore, at the moment of hearing, listen in the way of sound and emptiness, so that clarity and emptiness arise as inseparable, which is the Samadhi of Vajra Speech. Whatever is remembered is co-emergent wisdom, all forms of the Guru's mind. Therefore, at the moment of its arising, recognize it individually with self-awareness, so that bliss and emptiness arise as inseparable, which is the Samadhi of Vajra Mind. In this way, all phenomena of samsara and nirvana are known as the manifestations of the Guru's body, speech, and mind. All arising circumstantial appearances are understood as the play of blessings and compassion, thereby attaining Buddhahood in the nature of the Guru's three kayas. Sixth, cultivating compassion: Engage with beings, Dharma, and non-objectification, according to your own capacity. Sentient beings are parents, all parents are kind. These kind beings wander in the three realms, roam in the six realms, are tormented by intense suffering, and have no time of liberation. Meditate on how wonderful it would be if these beings could be free from that suffering. Therefore, regard all sentient beings as your only beloved child, seeing them as their mothers, and cultivate the mind of enlightenment that equalizes self and others. Because you and all sentient beings do not want suffering and want happiness equally, you and these sentient beings are equal. Therefore, you must eliminate all the suffering of others, just like your own suffering.
