Training the field as emptiness, training the field emptiness as inseparable from compassion. The illusory methods of samsara and nirvana are like magic tricks, appearing as pure and vast realms. Those who are ignorant enter here, and afterwards, know that this is the place of abiding. Thus it is said. Sixth, there are three teachings on equanimity towards the eight worldly dharmas: abandoning through antidotes, abandoning through skillful means, and abandoning through the manner of tasting the same in one's own nature. Among these, there are two: exhortation to abandon and the manner of abandoning. First, there is exhortation to abandon from the root, exhortation to abandon from near arising, and exhortation to abandon from being difficult to abandon. First, identifying the eight worldly dharmas, and the reason for where they arise from. Second, there are preliminaries and the main practice. Among these, there is the appearance tasting the same in the mind, the mind tasting the same in illusion, illusion tasting the same in dependent arising, dependent arising tasting the same in emptiness, emptiness tasting the same in union, union tasting the same in non-duality, and non-duality tasting the same in pervasive vastness. First, the reason why appearance is mind, and tasting the same based on dreams, and tasting the same based on direct perception. Fifth, bliss and emptiness tasting the same in union, clarity and emptiness tasting the same in union, awareness and emptiness tasting the same in union. Summarizing these meanings, the best is equal to the Dharmakaya, the path of liberation and the equality of samsara and nirvana. The middle is equal to the Sambhogakaya, the path of skillful means and the equality of bliss and emptiness. The lowest is equal to the Nirmanakaya, the common joys and sorrows, and the three ways of taking the path. All the rivers of suffering, however many there may be, taste the same and become one with the ocean of great bliss. This excellent method is what the wise should rely on, and the impartial should practice. Thus it is said, may it be virtuous! Seventh, the key to all profound paths, the teaching of love and compassion that is not far from leading the fortunate to enlightenment, has both common and uncommon aspects. Among these, there are three: compassion focused on sentient beings, compassion focused on the Dharma, and compassion without focus. The meaning of these is that the supreme is the same as the Dharmakaya, which is compassion without focus. The middle is the same as the Sambhogakaya, which is compassion focused on the Dharma. The lowest is the same as the Nirman

These three—being identical in form to the Buddha's body, and compassion directed towards sentient beings—are united as one. How the protectors of the world and their spiritual children taught for the benefit of beings, the lineage of accomplished masters has come down well like a tree, Mipham Padkar I joyfully say. It is good to say so. Eighth, all phenomena arise dependently, and the guidance on cause and effect, dependent arising, is divided into two: establishing it through the mode of knowledge, and taking it into experience through the mode of practice. There are four aspects to this: taking up the practice of single-sitting, taking up the practice of perfected skill, taking up the practice of increase and cultivation, and incidentally, not confusing the four times of arrangement. The first has four aspects: taking up the root practice of single-sitting, extending the four limbs in four directions, taking the three vows as guidance, and accomplishing the activity of benefiting others through skillful means. The second has four aspects: abandoning activities, knowing contentment, exhausting desires, and being able to abide. The third consists of the vows of body, speech, and mind. The second, perfected skill, has four aspects: training skill in various activities, training skill in various awarenesses, training skill in various obstructing forces, and training skill in various modes of conduct. The third, increase and cultivation, has two aspects: purifying from subtle sins, and increasing from subtle virtues. The fourth, arranging the four times, is: arranging the dependent arising of devotion in the presence of the lama, arranging the dependent arising of renunciation at the time of abandoning the world, arranging the dependent arising of practice at the time of practice, and arranging the dependent arising of benefiting others at the time of benefiting others. The condensed meaning of these is as follows: by taming beings according to their needs, the cause and effect that appear as real due to illness, the skill of the Nirmāṇakāya (emanation body) is exhausted; by the key point of appearance being without inherent existence, the cause and effect that are like illusions, the skill of the Sambhogakāya (enjoyment body) is trained; by the key point of profound clarity being non-dual, the cause and effect that are like space, the skill of the Dharmakāya (truth body) is trained, and there is nothing that is not included in these three. Dependent arising is the very word of the Victorious Ones, and in order for others to easily realize it, the Protector Lord has taught it well. Is it not appropriate to take up this explanation as it is? The intelligent one
