Thus, it is well said that letters, etc., are the letters of no letters. So it is said. By this example, greed, ignorance, pride, jealousy, etc., and all other coarse and subtle afflictive thoughts should be combined and practiced. Second, there are three ways to train in the object of focus: abandoning the body and mind that bind, abandoning the possessions that are clung to, and training in other categories. First, in the sky in front of oneself, invite all the gurus of the root and lineage, and all the deities of the mandala of the four classes of tantras, and imagine that they are actually present. To them, imagine that those who are regarded as enemies in one's mind, those who are regarded as friends, and one's own body are also cut into many pieces and offered, and ask them to accept them. Thus, the object of offering, the object to be offered, and the offerer himself are all merely mind appearances. Since the mind has no substance, it is like an illusion. Since the illusion is not established by its own nature, one should understand the meaning of the Great Seal, which is without letters. Second, to the gurus and yidams residing in the sky, imagine offering without hesitation the wealth, clothes, ornaments, dwellings, houses, land, etc. that one and others cherish, and ask them to accept them. Thus, the object of offering, the object, and the offerer are all mind. The mind is like an illusion, and the illusion has no self-nature. One should train the mind in the meaning of the Great Seal, which is without letters. Third, go to the places of the lower hells in order, and imagine experiencing the suffering of heat and cold, such as cooking and burning, without clearly seeing the object of focus. If fear and dread arise, then everything is an appearance of the mind, the mind is like an illusion, and the illusion has no self-nature. One should train the mind in the meaning of no letters. By this, one should also experience the suffering of each of the other six types of beings, such as hungry ghosts. Everything should be practiced in the meaning of mind being like an illusion and having no self-nature, which is the practice of the impure realm of samsara. Then, the Buddha Abhibhu in the lower direction, the Buddha Mahavairocana in the upper direction, the Buddha Akshobhya in the eastern direction, the Buddha Ratnasambhava in the southern direction, the Buddha Amitabha in the western direction, the Buddha Amoghasiddhi in the northern direction, and so on.

Focus your mind on seeing all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas residing in the ten directions of pure lands, and all the arrangements of those lands, in every instant. Generate joy and happiness, thinking it is wonderful to see the inconceivable Buddha-fields in an instant. Furthermore, train your mind in the meaning that all of them are appearances of the mind, the mind is insubstantial like an illusion, illusion is without inherent existence, and is without letters, which is training in the pure Buddha-fields. Third, explaining the examples and meanings has three parts: with effort, without effort, and showing the signs of accomplishment. First: mixing the twelve examples such as illusion, and the afflictions such as hatred, into the mind. To illustrate one aspect: when hatred arises, as soon as it arises, recognize it with mindfulness. And also say in words: This is an illusion, it is a dream. That is also the mind. The mind is an illusion, illusion is without inherent existence, the Great Seal is without letters. Thus, mindfulness is applied with effort. Second: If you have trained and become familiar with the former, then after a while, without the need for deliberate effort, you will simultaneously realize that all phenomena included in appearances, sounds, samsara, and nirvana are not established as other than your own mind. The mind is also like an illusion because it is without substance. Illusion is without inherent existence, the Great Seal is without letters, and it will be spontaneously realized. As Saraha said: Realization does not dwell in the forest or in the home. As Sambhuti said: Viewing various forms, listening extensively to sounds, eating various tastes, speaking and laughing, when doing all actions, with the yoga of awareness, yoga will constantly arise. This is the meaning of what was said. The phenomena of samsara and nirvana, one's own mind, the Great Seal of the Dharmadhatu without letters, are like putting water into water, or putting butter into butter, becoming one taste. On top of that, all nine key points mentioned earlier are also included. If another thought arises due to other conditions, then not clinging to it but merely encountering it is grasping where it has gone. On top of that, if the mind dwells slightly, it is guarding where it is placed. Abandoning dualistic thoughts is abandoning the two extremes. Also, grasping where it has gone is realization.
