Thinking like, "What difference is there between me and others, who equally want happiness and don't want suffering? Why do I protect only myself and not others?" Since sentient beings are not me, I should accomplish their wishes. Because sentient beings are the same as me, they want happiness and don't want suffering. From now on, just as I accomplish things for myself, I should eliminate all the suffering of sentient beings, and I should accomplish all happiness. Think this from the depths of your heart. May all sentient beings have happiness and the cause of happiness. May all sentient beings be free from suffering and the cause of suffering. Recite this and cultivate genuine Bodhicitta that is not artificial, again and again. Secondly, as it says in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra, "Whoever wishes to quickly protect themselves and others should practice the supreme and secret practice of exchanging self and others." What is the method? "Give yourself to others, and take others as yourself." This means, in order to cherish your own interests, focus on the sentient beings in front of you, cherish them as yourself, abandon the mind of cherishing yourself, and may all the suffering and bad karma of the sentient beings' continuum ripen in my continuum. May my body, possessions, roots of virtue, and all happiness be given to sentient beings without hesitation. May the suffering of all sentient beings ripen in me, and may all my happiness and roots of virtue ripen in the continuum of sentient beings. Recite this hundreds or thousands of times, and cultivate genuine Bodhicitta that is not artificial in between each arising. Thirdly, as it says in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra, "This is to give up happiness and constantly be with my suffering." Think like this. How to think? My body, possessions, and all roots of virtue are widely given to sentient beings, and may each sentient being fully obtain them, be happy and joyful. All the unpleasant things that exist in the continuum of sentient beings, such as killing, cutting, beating, fighting, heat and cold, hunger and thirst, fatigue, etc., ripen on me, and I experience the suffering of pain, death, agony, and immeasurable hunger and thirst. Especially for those sentient beings who are seen to be experiencing intense suffering, immediately and without hesitation take on their suffering. With this kind of intention, in the post-meditation period, be happy to take on the burdens of others, etc.

Should be practiced. Third, as it is said in the Guhyasamaja Tantra: 'Free from all things, aggregates, elements, and sense bases, the grasped and the grasper are completely abandoned. Because the dharmas are selfless and of equal nature, one's own mind is originally unborn, and it is the nature of emptiness.' Meditate in this way. How to meditate? That is, contemplate the object of exchanging self and others—sentient beings, the exchanger—oneself, and all phenomena, both internal and external, initiated by the happiness and suffering of the exchange, are all appearances of one's own mind. However, this mind is not established as real either, because the mind has passed, ceased, the future is unborn, and the present does not abide for even two moments, therefore its nature is empty. Having decided in this way, in this state, relax the mind and abide in it. Second, the uncommon yogi cultivates the arising of certainty in the arising and changing of experiences. As it is said in the Gur Tantra: 'First is the appearance of clouds, second is like smoke, third is the appearance of fireflies, fourth is the near-burning of a lamp, fifth is constant appearance, like a cloudless sky. This is the cause of all-knowing, and accomplishment will soon come.' Also, as it is said in the Vajra Verses: 'The vision of not losing meditation, dreams, and the three experiences, like the manifestation of conceptual thoughts, appear in all three realms.' Thus, the yogi, having entered the profound path of the Vajrayana, although inconceivable appearances of experiences arise, if summarized, they can be gathered into fifteen: entering, eliminating, cutting off attachment, the path of great enlightenment, these are the three paths; body, mind, dream experiences, these are the three experiences; reverse wind, vision, the interdependent arising of dream experiences, these are the three interdependent arisings; conceptual thoughts arise first, the gathering of the nine realms, the heat of the burning and stable bindu, these are the three heats; various characteristics, emptiness of nature, essence of union, these are the three samadhis. These are all gathered into those. These fifteen can also be gathered into the single samadhi. And those also arise dependent on the channels of one's own body, the letters in the channels, the element of nectar, the interdependent arising of the wisdom wind of the heart essence, controlled by the mind, therefore one should not be happy with the favorable causes of those, and one should not be angry with the unfavorable aspects, thus cutting off elaboration.
