And, by taking all the downfalls of others upon oneself, one should be fearless. These two should be protected at the cost of one's life. This means that if one lacks the common Buddhist vows, especially the vows of mind training, then no happiness in this life or the next will arise, so these two vows should be protected even more dearly than one's life. One should train in the three difficulties. This means that when afflictions arise, it is difficult to remember them at first, difficult to reverse them in the middle, and difficult to cut off their continuity at the end. Therefore, one should first recognize them when they arise, then generate the power of antidotes to abandon them, and finally strive to prevent them from arising again. One should take the three main causes. This means that the three main causes for practicing Dharma are meeting a good lama, one's own mind being capable, enjoying the Dharma properly, and having all the necessary conducive conditions for practicing Dharma. If one possesses these three, one should happily practice, and also pray that others possess these three. If one does not possess these three, one should think that in this world, like me, there are many who do not possess the three main causes and have not encountered the Dharma, so one should have compassion for them, and visualize that all the faults of their not possessing the three causes ripen on me, and may they possess the three causes. One should cultivate the three without degeneration. This means that all the qualities of the Great Vehicle depend on devotion to the lama, so devotion to the lama should not degenerate, mind training is the essence of all Great Vehicle Dharma, so practicing it should not degenerate, and all the precepts of the Lesser and Greater Vehicles, even the subtle ones, should be protected without degeneration. One should be endowed with the three inseparable. This means that one should make sure that body, speech, and mind are inseparable from virtue. One should train impartially towards objects, and cherish thorough familiarity with everything, extensively and deeply. This means that one should train in mind training impartially towards all objects, sentient and non-sentient, and for everything that appears in the mind, one should use mind training as an action, not just verbally, but mastering it from the depths of one's heart. One should always cultivate the uses. This means that for those who are one's competitors, those who associate together, those who harm me even though I have not harmed them, and those who are not dear to the heart due to karma,

Especially cultivate love and compassion for all those things that are difficult to arise, such as suffering. In particular, avoid doing anything that would harm the guru, parents, and other close people. Do not rely on other conditions. This means that do not rely on having abundant food, clothing, etc., being free from harm from humans and non-humans, having good health, and other favorable conditions. If favorable conditions are not present, then transform the very absence of favorable conditions into the path through the two aspects of bodhicitta. Now, mainly practice. This means that all the countless bodies taken in the past from beginningless time have gone to waste. In this present life, it is necessary to accomplish one thing that is most important. Therefore, Dharma is more important than the affairs of this life. Of the two aspects of Dharma, teaching and practice, practice is more important. Of other practices, cultivating bodhicitta is more important. Moreover, rather than cultivating through reasoning, it is more important to cultivate steadfastly by relying on the guru's instructions. Rather than other activities, it is more important to cultivate while sitting in bed. Rather than abandoning one's homeland, it is more important to rely on virtuous friends. Therefore, practice those important things. Do not invert. This means abandoning the six inversions: being unable to endure the suffering of practicing Dharma, but being able to endure the hardships of subduing enemies and protecting relatives, etc., is inverted endurance. Not desiring to practice pure Dharma, but desiring the wealth of this life, is inverted desire. Not experiencing the taste of Dharma through the three aspects of listening, contemplating, and meditating, but experiencing the taste of worldly pleasures, is inverted taste. Not cultivating compassion for those who commit evil deeds, but cultivating compassion when doing ascetic practices for the sake of Dharma, is inverted compassion. Not applying worldly activities related to oneself to the Dharma, but applying them to methods for increasing the wealth of this life, is inverted concern. Not cultivating joy in the happiness and virtue of samsara and nirvana, but cultivating joy when enemies experience suffering, is inverted rejoicing. Having abandoned these six inversions, practice the six non-inversions. Do not alternate. This means that because one has not generated certainty in the Dharma, one abandons doing it sometimes and not doing it sometimes. Train the mind single-pointedly and continuously. Train thoroughly, which means that for the training itself, put aside all concerns and train thoroughly.
