Train in one place. Liberate through two examinations. This means: Examine which affliction is greatest in your own mind, and then abandon it with intense effort. Then, examine whether that affliction arises or not, based on the place where that affliction arises, etc. If it arises, abandon it with an antidote, and strive until it no longer arises. Do not boast. This means: Do not boast that you have been kind to others, that you have practiced Dharma diligently for a long time, or that you are a wise person or a monk, etc. Because when practicing cherishing others more than oneself, there is no boasting. Do not have high expectations of people, and pray to the gods. This is said to be the teaching of Radrengpa. Do not quarrel. This means: Do not respond to others who criticize you in public, etc., and do not quarrel. Now, we practitioners do not use the Dharma as an antidote to self-grasping, so our patience is less than Shauwa's, and our quarrels are more intense than Jingtsen's. This makes it impossible to understand the Dharma, so it is necessary to use the Dharma as an antidote to self-grasping. Do not be momentary. This means: Do not show expressions of liking or disliking small things, and do not entice friends with food. Do not desire great fame. This means: Do not seek verbal thanks or fame for helping others or practicing Dharma. In this way, throughout your life, you should diligently train in the two aspects of bodhicitta—aspiring bodhicitta and engaging bodhicitta—and gain confidence in your accomplishment. When the five degenerations are rampant, it is the time to transform the path to enlightenment into practice. This essence of nectar-like instructions is transmitted from Serlingpa. This means: The five degenerations refer to the degeneration of time, beings, lifespan, afflictions, and views. In this era when the five degenerations are rampant, the causes of happiness are few, and the causes of suffering, such as harm from humans and non-humans, are very numerous. When adverse conditions gather, use them as companions for mind training (Tibetan: བློ་སྦྱོང་), and through mind training, the more adverse conditions there are, the more virtuous actions will increase. Like nectar that can transform all poisons into medicine, this instruction of Lama Serlingpa is more excellent than other instructions. Thus, if you understand mind training, then the so-called "source of happiness in the city" is also the body for practicing mind training.

This is what is being referred to. All the happiness of oneself and others, of samsara and nirvana, arises from this. Gathering all efforts into one, blending mind and Dharma, and training well, one will soon attain the complete benefit of oneself and others, so it is said. Because the residue of past practice has awakened, and because of one's own strong desire, overcoming suffering and harsh words, I requested the instructions for taming self-grasping. Now, even if I die, I have no regrets. This is the speech of confidence from the great master of yoga, Chekawa, who, having trained his mind well, developed a mind that cherishes others over himself, and completely eliminated selfish attachments. Through the kindness of the Dharma Lord with the name Drakpa, I have well obtained the precious treasure of the oral transmission. Through the power of being urged by faithful disciples to open it, may all beings develop both bodhicitta and compassion. This explanation of the words of the oral transmission of the Seven Points of Mind Training, in concise words, was composed by the monk Thogme at the solitary Dharma Fortress of Ngulchu, urged repeatedly by the Mahayana yogi Drakpa Gyaltsen.
