Having seen the inconceivable power of the Bodhisattva's mind, through faith in the conduct of the Bodhisattva and the meaning of selflessness, wanting to learn these, having the patience of firm mind in the Dharma, one must practice patience from the depths of one's heart. Je Tsongkhapa said: Patience is the supreme ornament for the powerful, the essence of all asceticism that alleviates the suffering of afflictions, the sky for the enemy of hatred like a staff, the solid armor against the weapon of harsh words. Having understood this, for the supreme armor of patience, cultivate familiarity with it in various ways. This is the fourth, the method of learning diligence: Abandoning the laziness of the three doors (body, speech, and mind), and craving for inferior pleasures such as sexual intercourse and the comfort of sleep, not contemplating the arising of samsara, thereby laziness arises, therefore abandon these causes of laziness, and employ the three doors of body, speech, and mind solely with virtuous deeds. Among these, even for the sake of eliminating the suffering of just one sentient being, one should not spare effort, not regard body and life, this is the armor-like diligence. Relying on it, to continuously increase the practice of the six perfections, this is the diligence of accumulating virtue and Dharma. Through these two, because there is no fault, striving to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings, this is the diligence of accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings, one must strive. Je Tsongkhapa said: If one puts on the armor of unwavering and steadfast diligence, the qualities of learning, thinking, and meditating will increase like the waxing moon. All actions will become meaningful, and the ends of any undertaking will be accomplished as desired. Having understood this, in order to eliminate all laziness, great diligence is what the Bodhisattvas should practice. This is the fifth, the method of learning meditation: Initiated with the mind of enlightenment as the foundation,

Whoever can bring the great bliss of deathlessness. Knowing this, the yogis, the masters, always rely on samadhi to subdue the enemy of distraction. Thus it is said. Sixth, the way to train in wisdom: Generate the mind of enlightenment from all aspects, and understand the meaning of thatness, which cuts off the root of existence, that is, the wisdom of understanding ultimate truth, and the wisdom of understanding conventional truth, and the wisdom of benefiting sentient beings through these two. It is necessary to study. The Lord Lama said: The eye of profound wisdom that sees thatness is the path that cuts off the root of existence, the treasure of virtues praised in all the scriptures, and the supreme lamp that dispels the darkness of ignorance. Knowing this, the wise who desire liberation cultivate that path with many efforts. Thus it is said. Second, the way to train in the four ways of gathering that ripen the minds of others: Generate the mind of enlightenment with the thought of attaining Buddhahood for the benefit of sentient beings, and first gather sentient beings into your retinue by giving them material things. Then, in order to make sentient beings happy, first show a bright face and speak pleasant words to subdue them. Then, speak sweetly of the Dharma, such as the stories of the six perfections. Then, practice the meaning of making others practice as the Dharma teaches. Then, just as others are made to practice, one should also practice the meaning of the six perfections, that is, one must learn these profound methods of accomplishing the benefit of others. Therefore, since self-grasping is the root of samsara, without meditating on the path that directly contradicts it, the root of samsara cannot be cut off by mere one-pointed concentration, and without the abiding peace of remaining one-pointedly without moving from the object of focus, no matter how much one examines it with the wisdom of realizing emptiness, one cannot dispel afflictions. Therefore, in order to attain liberation from afflictions, the view of realizing the meaning of emptiness without error must be placed on the horse of abiding peace that does not move from the object of focus, and the wisdom of the Middle Way, which is free from the extremes of permanence and annihilation, must be used to destroy all the targets of clinging to extremes with the sharp sword of the four great reasonings, and the wisdom of practicing thatness properly will realize thatness.
