That is to quickly attain unsurpassed Bodhi. Thus it is said. Third, in terms of the main practice, after the preliminaries are clear and brief, in Pago, when Vairochana gave instructions to Pang Mipham, he taught through two key points and four symbols. First, the key point of time and the key point of wind, two points. Regarding time, do not meditate when meditation does not arise, even at noon or night. In the morning, face west, and in the afternoon, face east. Practice when the wind blows from the left side. If it doesn't blow, lie down on the right side for a while, and when it blows from the left, practice at that time. There are two aspects to this: causing what has not arisen to arise, and increasing what has arisen. First, in terms of the body, in the morning, place the left knee on the ground, kneel on the right knee, untie the meditation belt from the waist, erect the meditation staff from the right side, and gaze at the sky sixteen finger-widths away. In the afternoon, reverse the body posture and face east. The four symbols are: the eyes and gazing are symbols of relative clarity. From that, the appearance of various empty forms is a symbol of ultimate clarity. Unmoving eyeballs are a symbol of relative non-conceptuality. The arising of non-conceptual samadhi through that power is a symbol of ultimate non-conceptuality. Slightly drawing in the lower breath is a symbol of relative bliss. The arising of indescribable mental bliss at that time is a symbol of ultimate bliss. The tongue remaining without touching anything is a symbol of relative non-duality. At that time, the mind, in an instant, with bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality inseparable, corresponds to the empty mind, which is called a symbol of ultimate non-duality: "In the state of bliss, clarity, non-conceptuality, and emptiness." This is definitely necessary at a single time like this. This is the time when the lama swears that there is a deeper instruction than this, and it is the time when the disciple prostrates. When the mind dawns as clear emptiness, it is said to have grasped the root of the holy Buddha. When meditating in that way, empty forms appear in various colors, and meditating on whatever appears, whatever empty form arises, is an appearance of the accomplishment of the Dharmakaya. In general, all appearances, for sentient beings, are appearances of the impure Alaya consciousness arising from afflictions, for yogis, they are appearances of experiences in samadhi, and for Buddhas, they are pure appearances, appearing solely as the Dharmakaya. The forms, sounds, smells, and tastes that are now being discussed

All karmic appearances and the reflections of emptiness are like placing water on water, or butter on butter. By forcefully practicing with instructions like this and the six-branched Vajra Yoga, emptiness and form appear clearly. When not practiced, appearances seem inherently mixed. If karmic appearances arise, clinging to them becomes the cause of samsara. If one abides in equanimity upon the arising of emptiness-form, karmic appearances are purified, and the appearance of wisdom arises, abiding in the state of Dharmakaya. Furthermore, according to the Madhyamaka system of non-abiding union, even if karmic appearances cease, emptiness-form does not cease. Therefore, all the qualities of the Buddha, such as the ten powers and fearlessnesses, are brilliantly present in the wisdom of union, not as separate entities. According to the system of non-abiding non-appearance, at the time of Buddhahood, all appearances cease, and there is nothing like powers, like a lamp that has run out of oil. It is merely the emptiness of the exhaustion of karma, the exhaustion of phenomena, and the absence of inherent nature. Both are used as examples: for instance, in a place of fear of snakes, mistaking a mottled rope for a snake. The Madhyamika of union says that when the illusion ceases, the appearance is that of a mottled rope. Those without appearance assert that at that time, both the mottled rope and the illusion are absent. The Dagpo Kagyu tradition is in accordance with the Madhyamika of union, so "co-emergent" refers to the nature of any dharma, that emptiness and clarity are co-emergent. The wisdom of the Buddha has two aspects: "as it is" and "as many as." The first refers to realizing the emptiness of the inherent nature of all phenomena. The second refers to the aspect of realizing the non-affirming negation of the emptiness of all phenomena. Therefore, regarding the arising of various emptiness-forms, the great accomplished woman Yumo said, "It is crucial to see emptiness with the eyes, otherwise, one cannot thoroughly cut through the path and fruition of material emptiness." To enhance vitality, there are two methods: specifically meditating on the winds of each element and generally dispelling obstacles. The first is to balance the winds of the great elements, because if the force of any one element's wind is too strong, the channels become stiff, and clear light does not arise. If the earth element is too strong, the body becomes heavy, movement is poor, one is very sleepy, desires to lie down, and does not want to speak. If the wind element is too strong, one enjoys walking and talking, and the mind is scattered. If the water element is too strong, one becomes dull and drowsy, and falls asleep without memory.
