There are dharma treasures of Bodhisattvas and Mahasattvas placed within mountains, valleys, and forests. Countless dharanis (mantras) and dharma gates, compiled into volumes, also came into being (178b). Furthermore, as extensively taught in the Chuklung Rolpai Sutra: The essence of my teachings, From mind, hidden within the mind-treasure. Or made the essence of the earth, Why are the Tirthikas (heretics) so arrogant? They will certainly stir up disputes regarding the meaning, Therefore, the stream of tradition will never cease. As extensively stated above, the Great Orgyen (Guru Rinpoche) prophesied the appearance of karmically destined individuals as his representatives. He concealed eighteen types of treasure, exemplified by speech treasures (Bla gter) and mind treasures (Thugs gter). He entrusted his wisdom-intent to karmically destined disciples such as the Lord, Subjects, and Friends (rje 'bangs grogs gsum), and made aspiration-vows and commitments. Therefore, when the time arrived in later generations, these emanations appeared: the supreme enlightened beings and Rigdzins (knowledge-holders) such as Nyangral Nyima Özer and Guru Chökyi Wangchuk, who are known as the two great Tertöns (treasure revealers) or the upper and lower treasures. Also, numerous Lingpas, primarily the eight Lingpas such as Sanggye Dorje Rinchen Pema Ratna Kunkhyongdo Ngak Tennye Lingpa, who upheld both Sutra and Tantra. And those who benefited from the Northern Treasures (Jang ter), such as Rigdzin Gökyi Ledru Gyen, and the twenty-one Nüdens (powerful ones), with Dündul Nüden Dorje as the principal among them. In this final period of degeneration, like the Udumbara flower, wonderfully extraordinary emanations of Damdzin Chökyi Lodrö, the son of Shri Devi, the great treasure-revealing Chakravartin (wheel-turner) Orgyen Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa, and others, appeared in succession. They opened the doors to the profound dharma treasures and the sacred substances of liberation, performing extraordinary activities endowed with the four liberations. The dharma-holders, disciples, and lineage-holders of these traditions, in the final degenerated age, upheld the sacred dharma. Even in places where the Vinaya (monastic discipline) teachings were not present, the teachings of the Secret Mantra Vajrayana (179a) spread and flourished in fragments, continuously and extensively carrying out the activity of liberating all difficult-to-tame sentient beings. By Rongzom Pandita, the secret mantra...
