It is consciousness, also known as afflicted mind. The divisions and scriptural references for these are very numerous, so I have not elaborated on them due to fear of excessive writing. Secondly, there are five certainties regarding the special location: essence, location, path, function, and result. The essence of mind is the apprehending and apprehended consciousness, the pervasive conceptualization of the three realms. That is, the mind's alaya-consciousness, the ever-moving mind, the pervasive knowing that engages with objects, and the five sense consciousnesses. These three are consciousnesses of the same essence, with self-arising ignorance as the root of the five poisons. The location is in the channel connecting the lungs to the heart, in a space as small as a hollow reed. Like the movement from the lungs to the heart, the self-radiance of the knowing aspect of the heart is mixed there like an eye, so it is called the "unclear, nine-clear mind," which arises suddenly from the part of conditions. The path is from there, next to the vertebrae, upwards is a channel, the tip of which is small and connected to the nostrils, so it goes upwards. The function is to create the body due to different actions. The result is to ripen into the illusion of samsara. That is also called the impure triple layer. That is, the channel between the heart and lungs, the radiance of awareness on the horse of breath. The essence is ignorance, the aspect is mind, and the conceptualization is called mind. It is a gathering of three aspects. From Self-Arisen it says: The nature of the impure place is that in the self-continuum of all sentient beings, there exists an impure triple layer. That nature is like this: between the heart and lungs, there also exists a triple layer. Then it flows from the channel. Life arises from the path of the channel. The doors arise from the mouth and nose. There are eighty thousand of them. Those and other afflictions arise in various ways. And in the Mirror of the Heart of Vajrasattva it says: In all sentient beings who are sustained by life, there mostly exists the affliction of ignorance. That also depends on the support of the form aggregate, and exists between the heart and lungs. That is not just ignorance alone, but it is called mind, adorned with the collection of all habits, and exists. That which is called mind exists together with conceptualization. The union of these three is called ignorance, which is samsara itself. From that arise the five poisons and anger. From that arise sixty thousand afflictions. From which path do those arise? In the lungs and heart

In between the connections, the vein called the "Red Lifeline" extends upwards in a space like a reed pipe, it extends upwards on the side of the vertebrae. It is connected to the small vein on the left. After that, it travels riding the horse of breath. It travels through the mouth and nose. From that, various actions and afflictions arise. Thus it is said. The second topic, the state of wisdom is difficult to understand, explained separately in two parts: the common distinctions and the determination of the special profound secret. The first part has three aspects: essence, definition, and classification. The essence of wisdom is the clear light awareness, the Tathagatagarbha. As it says in the Madhyamaka-karika: Wisdom is not conceptual thought, its essence is the meaning of self-illuminating heart essence. Thus it is said. The definition is that it is the pure wisdom that has existed from the beginning, therefore it is wisdom. As it says in the same text: The definition is the meaning of existing from the beginning, now knowing it is wisdom. Thus it is said. The classification includes the wisdom of the base, the wisdom of grasping characteristics, and the wisdom pervading objects, these three. As it says in the same text: The distinctions are considered to be three. Thus it is said. And as it says in the "Pearl Garland": Wisdom itself is like this, the wisdom of the pure base, grasping characteristics and pervading objects. Thus it is said. Among them, the wisdom of the base has three aspects: essence, nature, and compassion. The wisdom of grasping characteristics has five aspects: Dharmadhatu, mirror, equality, discriminating awareness, and accomplishing activity. The wisdom pervading objects has two aspects: knowing what is and knowing how much there is, which has been said before and will be explained in detail later below. Second, the state of determining the special profound secret has eight aspects: essence, support, place, palace, path, appearance, function, and result. First, the essence of wisdom is the previously mentioned base, the Tathagatagarbha. The support is the skandha of form. The place is the precious citta. The palace is the immeasurable palace where the five lights gather. The path is the four bindus, namely the empty bindu, the trembling bindu, the stainless bindu, and the crystalline bindu, and especially the path that appears to objects, is the connection from the heart to the empty space, like a white silk thread-like vein. The appearance is two lamps, namely the essence of the Dharmadhatu pure lamp, appearing like the letter Nāro (藏文:ན་རོ་,梵文天城体:ना,梵文罗马拟音:nā,汉语字面意思:无), expanding from the blue appearance, filling the sky. The essence of the empty bindu lamp, appearing like a peacock feather, appearing as a self-illuminating round shape, surrounded by a five-colored halo.
