It is also not contaminated by karma and afflictions, appearing like white. Because the qualities are inherently complete, it appears yellow. Because the four empowerments are naturally complete without seeking, it appears red. Because it transcends effort, it appears green. Because it is unchanging, it appears blue. Thus, because there are five lights, they now appear as the five elements. The Golden Garland says: Blue, white, and yellow, I have mastered the five greens, Sky, water, earth, and fire, The five winds' elements naturally arise. Thus, these are also connected to the purity of the five mothers. The Secret Essence says: Earth, water, Buddha's Eye and Mamaki Fire, wind, White-robed Tara, etc., The sovereign mother of the sphere of space, The three realms, all phenomena, All without exception are Buddha lands, Other than the Buddha himself, Dharma, Even if sought, the Victorious One will not find. Thus it is said. Fourth, the five families: The Buddhas of the past also attained Buddhahood by seeing awareness itself. Similarly, because they went to the state of Buddhahood, they are the Tathagata family. Because awareness itself does not change wherever it is born, it is the Vajra family. Because awareness has spontaneously accomplished qualities, it is the Ratna family. Although it dwells in samsara, it is not defiled by faults, so it is the Padma family. Because awareness has spontaneously accomplished activities, it is the Karma family. Thus, because the five families have always existed, they now appear as symbols of the five senses. The Vajra Mirror says: The eye is said to be the Vajra family. The ear is the purposeful Karma family. The nose is the great Padma family. Likewise, the tongue is the Ratna family. The body is said to be the Sugata family. Thus it is said. Fifth, the five winds: These are connected to the five objects of enjoyment that are closely experienced. If explained in detail, it has been taught before, but to explain briefly, it is called the wind that is equal to fire because it brings down the heat of awareness and wisdom. Because it holds the life of samsara and nirvana, it is the life-holding wind. Because the five lights of wisdom are inherently present, it is the wind that generates splendor and radiance. Because it carries one to the correct state, it is the moving wind. Because it liberates samsara into nirvana, it is the wind of the kalpa of compassionless karma. Thus it is said in the Self-Arisen: Thus, in the nature of the five winds, It dwells in all sentient beings. Thus, because it causes one to move on the right path, it is the moving wind.

It is called thus. Because it holds the life of pure wisdom, it is called the wind that holds life. Because the five lights of wisdom are inherently present, it is called the wind that generates radiance and splendor. Because wisdom can liberate to the pure realm, it is called the wind of merciless kalpa karma. Because it is inseparable from the appearance of wisdom, it is called the wind that dwells together with fire. Sixth, the five dharmas of essence, nature, and compassion: Their meaning is summarized into the three kayas of the wisdom of the ground. The five essences are combined with the five kayas of manifestation. The five natures are combined with the appearance of the five lights, and the five compassions are combined with the five wisdoms. Therefore, in the state of Buddhahood, there is compassion of inherent power, compassion that meets with conditioned objects, compassion that urges and prays, compassion of various activities, and the five appearances of compassion that tames beings without change. These arise from the part of spontaneous perfection in the wisdom of present awareness. Awareness itself also abides in the five wisdoms. Because it abides in the wisdom that differentiates, it separates the phenomena of appearance and knowledge. Because it exists in the wisdom that gathers, everything is perfected in itself. Because it pervades all appearances and knowledge, the wisdom that pervades arises. Relying on the wind of wisdom, awareness moves in the sky, therefore it abides in the wisdom that moves. The life force of both samsara and nirvana is cut off by dharmata, therefore the wisdom that liberates arises. Moreover, awareness itself abides in three levels: kaya, light, and wisdom. Because the essence abides as kaya, knowable objects appear self-luminous. Because nature abides as light, luminosity increases in space. Because compassion abides as wisdom, activities appear without obstruction. If one is now considered a yogi, then at the time of equipoise it is the dharmakaya, at the time when equipoise and post-equipoise are not separated it is the sambhogakaya, and after that it is the nirmanakaya. As it says in Rangshar: "Awareness abiding without thought is the dharmakaya. Awareness appearing unceasingly is the sambhogakaya. Awareness appearing as anything is the nirmanakaya." Thus, in these three states, the Three Jewels are inherently complete and abiding as their own nature. As it says in Klong Drugpa: "The Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha are inherently perfect and abide in one's own body."
